"In the first quarter of this year, the output of industrial robots in Dongguan increased by 26.4% year-on-year." Recently, at the press conference of the 8th Guangdong International Robotics and Intelligent Equipment Expo held in Dongguan, Xiao Biliang, director of the Dongguan Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, used data to illustrate the strong development momentum of industrial robots in Dongguan.
According to reports, Dongguan's industrial robots have developed well in recent years. According to statistics, by the end of 2022, there were 4,689 robot manufacturing companies of various types in Dongguan, of which 116 had a registered capital of more than 50 million yuan, and the total output of intelligent robots was 1.5939 million sets.
The Songshan Lake International Robotics Industry Base alone has nurtured and incubated more than 60 companies since its establishment in 2014. The survival rate of incubated teams is over 80%. The cumulative valuation of the top companies has reached 80 billion yuan, and 15% of them have grown into unicorn/quasi-unicorn companies.
Dongguan has formed a relatively complete industrial chain in controllers, reducers, machine vision , etc., and has become one of the most important robot industry bases in the country. In some fields, Dongguan enterprises have reached the leading level in China. For example, in the field of machine vision, Dongguan has gathered more than 100 related enterprises, including nearly 21 above-scale enterprises, with revenue exceeding 5 billion yuan, accounting for about 1/10 of the relevant industries in the country. A large number of high-quality leading enterprises have emerged, such as listed companies Opt and Samson.
With the support of national policies and the promotion of domestic and foreign market demand, the overall scale of the high-end equipment industry continues to expand. In 2022, the output value of my country's high-end equipment manufacturing industry reached 21.33 trillion yuan, and it is expected to be close to 40 trillion yuan in 2024, with a super large market scale.
Relevant data show that Dongguan's equipment industry has a total of 3,859 industrial enterprises above designated size, with an output value exceeding 500 billion yuan in 2022 and an industrial added value of nearly 120 billion yuan above designated size. Since the beginning of the year, Dongguan's equipment industry has maintained a good development trend, with a monthly growth of 9.6% in March, and both the equipment manufacturing industry and the automobile manufacturing industry maintained double-digit growth.
Last year, Dongguan issued the "Dongguan City Action Plan for the Development of Strategic Pillar Industry Clusters of High-end Equipment Manufacturing", proposing to build Dongguan into an important base for high-end equipment manufacturing such as CNC machine tools, laser and additive manufacturing, and robots in the province by 2025. At the same time, six major development projects were identified, including high-end CNC machine tool projects, new energy equipment projects, intelligent robot projects, laser and additive manufacturing projects, high-end medical equipment projects, and semiconductor and integrated circuit equipment projects.
Today, the equipment industry has become Dongguan's second largest strategic pillar industry after electronic information. Under the guidance of policies, it will become another trillion-dollar industry in the future.
