On June 5, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Eston-Crus Robotics South China R&D and Production Base project was held in Beijiao Town, Shunde District.

It is reported that the project covers an area of about 20 acres, with a total planned building area of about 33,000 square meters and a total investment of over 120 million yuan. It will be built into the headquarters corporate base of Estun South China, and will also cooperate with Cruise Robotics to jointly build the Robotics (South China) Technology Center.

Wu Kan, president of Nanjing Estun Automation Co., Ltd., said that in the future, the company will make full use of Cruise Robot's leading welding technology and Estun's advantages in standardized robots to actively develop the markets of welding robots , Estun robots and servo products in South China, and promote the development of the entire industrial chain from industrial robots to system integration.

Domestic industrial robot leader builds a "bridgehead" in South China

Estun is a leading domestic industrial robot company and one of the few companies that has reached the "international quasi-first-tier level". The "2022 China Industrial Robot Market Annual Report" released by MIR Rui Industrial shows that Estun has been ranked among the top ten global industrial robot brands in terms of shipments in the Chinese market for four consecutive years, and its shipments exceeded ABB for the first time that year, ranking first domestically and fifth in the world.

In recent years, the sales volume of Estun's industrial robot products has grown rapidly. In 2017, the company's industrial robot sales were less than 2,000 units, and in 2021 it reached 10,000 units. In 2022, it will achieve the target of 17,000 units shipments, ranking first among domestic brands. In 2023, it will sprint towards the sales target of 25,000 units.

The rapid growth is due to Estun's continuously expanding business territory. It has successively acquired Trio in the UK, held a controlling stake in MAi in Germany, invested in companies such as Barrett in the United States and Euclid in Italy, and established a European R&D center in Milan, initially completing the international layout in brand and technology. The Cruise Robotics in this project is a global leader in welding robots. It was wholly acquired in 2019 and has now been integrated into Estun's own product system.

Currently, Estun's business in South China is constantly expanding, mainly in the automotive and general industrial fields. In the future, it will "target" automotive parts companies in the Guangzhou-Foshan area to further expand the corporate market "cake".

"South China is an important market for Estun. The company established its South China headquarters to, firstly, serve South China customers from a marketing perspective, and secondly, to assist the company's R&D and production work from a future development perspective. Through the company's layout in South China, it will attract a group of high-quality R&D talents, thereby enhancing product competitiveness," said Wu Kan, President of Nanjing Estun Automation Co., Ltd.

At the same time, Wu Kan said that in the 30 years since the establishment of the company, we have continued to help traditional labor-intensive production lines to transform and upgrade to intelligent ones, and assisted the manufacturing industry to move towards high-quality development. The Estun South China Regional Headquarters, which was started in Beijiao, will become Estun’s "bridgehead" in South China, and will work with the Nanjing Head Office to play the leading role of the "dual headquarters".

Shunde Beijiao Robot's output value has exceeded 12 billion

With the gradual maturity of the supporting environment and industrial chain, and the attraction of leading projects, more and more robot companies are "converging" to Beijiao, Shunde. From the research and development and manufacturing of core components, to the manufacturing of robot bodies, and then to the application of industrial robots, the localization of Shunde's entire robot industry chain is becoming increasingly mature, and a robot industry highland with global influence is accelerating its rise.

According to statistics, as of October last year, more than 300 enterprises above designated size in Shunde had used robots. The Shunde Intelligent Robot Industry Cluster has more than 80 enterprises engaged in robot production or supporting. It has become an important gathering place for robot integrated system solutions in South China, with an annual output value of more than 12 billion yuan.

Regarding the selection of Beijiao as the headquarters base for the South China region, Estun President Wu Kan said that the choice of Beijiao to establish Estun's South China R&D and production base and build the headquarters for the South China region was not only due to Beijiao's location advantages, convenient transportation, and industrial foundation, but also due to its excellent business environment.

Recently, Beijiao has ushered in the climax of the harvest season for the start of construction and production of the robotics industry. In addition to Midea's Kuka robots, Philips Deerma and many other robot projects are under construction in full swing, including Estun, China Railway Construction, Zhongda Lide, and Tuoye. These well-known robotics companies have successively started construction, topped out, and are preparing to go into production in the Beijiao area of Sanlong Bay.

Just a few days ago, the second phase of Midea Kuka Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Park was officially put into production. As of the end of April this year, the park has produced and delivered more than 57,000 industrial robots to customers, with a turnover of more than 8.2 billion yuan and a cumulative output value of more than 9.5 billion yuan. Xu Guiyou, general manager of Kuka China, said: "In the future, with the full production of the park, the planned robot production capacity will be 80,000 to 100,000 units per year, which will fully promote the localization of robot supply and support the automation and digital transformation of the manufacturing industry ."

As an important driving force for my country's industrial upgrading, the market demand for industrial robots continues to be strong. Data shows that in 2022, my country's industrial robot sales will exceed 300,000 units, with a compound annual growth rate of 23% from 2017 to 2022. In the future, with the acceleration of the application of industrial robots, it is expected that the sales volume of industrial robots will reach 550,000 units in 2025, and the market size will exceed 120 billion.

As the application of robots in the market continues to expand and demand continues to increase in the future, Shunde Beijiao, as an important robot industry ecological cluster base in my country, is expected to achieve greater breakthroughs, and companies in the base will also benefit from it.
