On November 18, Mark Gurman said that Apple is evaluating whether to manufacture Apple TV.

Previously, Mark Gurman revealed that Apple is building a smart home display that is similar in shape to an iPad. Its main function is to control smart home devices and become the smart hub of the home.

If this device is successful, an Apple TV could also be launched, but it would take a few years for it to appear.

In recent years, the smart home wave has surged. In addition to brands such as Xiaomi, Huawei, and Tmall Genie that have already deployed smart home systems early on, traditional home appliance manufacturers such as Haier and Midea have also launched their own smart home brands, and the competition has become increasingly fierce.

Apple began to develop smart home as early as 2014, when the HomeKit kit was launched on Apple's iOS system, which could connect and control smart home devices that supported the HomeKit certification protocol.

The system still continues the closed nature of Apple's iOS, and smart home appliances must support the HomeKit protocol to have a chance to be identified and connected.

Judging from the latest revelations, one of Apple’s next focuses will be smart home. Given Apple’s strong influence and appeal, Apple’s competitiveness in the smart home market cannot be underestimated.
