The new generation of servers based on NVIDIA Blackwell architecture are being shipped in batches, and at the OCP Summit 2024, the official held a public display, with the chips directly exposed for everyone to see.
This server is equipped with a total of eight B200 chips, manufactured using a 4NP process, 208 billion transistors, 192GB of HBM3E memory, and a power consumption of up to 1000W.
Add up all eight of them, and that's a terrifying 8000W - 8 kWh per hour.
Compared with the previous generation of servers, NVIDIA has made some adjustments, mainly the NVLink interconnect control chip, which is no longer located at the edge of the server, but has been moved to the center and surrounded by eight B200s.
The advantage of this is that it can shorten the distance to the GPU.
In addition, you can also see multiple PCIe Retimer chips provided by Astera Labs.
