Preface
In response to the embarrassment that Tesla electric vehicles only have two USB-C output interfaces, Baseus has launched a dedicated expansion dock. This expansion dock expands the original car's two USB-C interfaces into 2C2A outputs. One of the USB-C interfaces is designed with a 1-meter long retractable cable and supports 45W power output.
Two USB-A ports support 12W charging, and one USB-C port supports 30W charging. It also supports data transmission, which is convenient for expansion. The docking station fits the interior design of the car body and is not abrupt. Below, the charging head network brings you the disassembly of this Tesla-specific docking station from Baseus to see the internal design and materials.
Baseus T-Space expansion dock unboxing
The front of the packaging box is printed with the Baseus brand, product name, appearance and two major product features.
The back is printed with product parameters and merchant information in multiple languages, and there are product-related certifications at the bottom.
A close-up of the Chinese version of the product parameters, followed by a detailed introduction to the actual product.
The package includes Baseus T-Space expansion dock, instruction manual, installation steps manual, three-guarantee certificate and cartoon stickers.
The Baseus T-Space expansion dock uses 3D scanning to open the mold, and the assembly corners are tightly fitted to perfectly fit the original car. It looks beautiful without affecting the opening and closing of the storage box.
The main body of the expansion dock is made of ABS+PC fireproof plastic shell, starry black color, and frosted surface.
The bottom of the body comes with two USB-C input cables.
The cable end and the USB-C male connector are bent at 90° to facilitate connection and prevent them from falling off.
The connection between the cable and the bottom of the fuselage is provided with a rubber sleeve to prevent bending.
Product parameter information is printed on the back of the fuselage

The product has passed CE, FCC and UKCA certifications.
There are silicone corner guards on both sides of the fuselage, which can increase resistance and improve stability, while also preventing scratches on the storage box.
Close-up of the silicone corner protector at the end corner.
The top step features a sliding space grey metal plate.
The top center also features the BASEUS brand.
Three USB ports (2A1C) and a stretchable output cable are hidden under the dustproof panel.
All three USB ports use orange-red rubber cores, and there is an indicator light next to the USB-C port.
The area where the output cable is located is recessed, which makes it easy to hide the cable when it is stored. There is also a USB-C to Lighting adapter storage hole on the right side. The adapter can be inserted into the storage hole when not in use to avoid loss.
The outer shell of the stretch cable end is made of metal, and as shown in the picture, the horizontal area of the cable end has a magnetic suction design. When stored, the cable end is naturally adsorbed and placed horizontally. Users do not need to press it down deliberately. It is convenient, neat and beautiful.
When the rear passengers need to charge, they can pull out the cord for use.
The word 45W is printed on the metal shell of the stretch cable end, indicating that the cable can support a maximum output of 45W.
The product also comes with a USB-C to Lighting adapter so it can be used with both Android and Apple phones.
Using ChargerLAB POWER-Z MF001, we found that the Lightning terminal of the adapter was not original.
The actual measurement shows that the length of the two USB-C input cables of this expansion dock is about 16cm.
The height of the docking station is approximately 103.86mm.
The width is 193.89mm.
The thickness of the top of the fuselage is 47.75mm.
The length of the stretch line is about 1 meter.
Finally, the total weight of this expansion dock was measured to be approximately 313g.
When powered on, the indicator light next to the USB-C port lights up blue.
Using ChargerLAB POWER-Z KM003C, it was measured that the stretch cable output supports FCP, SCP, AFC, QC3.0, PD3.0, DCP, SAM 2A, and Apple 2.4A charging protocols.
The PDO message display also has five fixed voltage levels: 5V3A, 9V3A, 12V3A, 15V3A, and 20V2.25A.
It was measured that the USB-C port on the body supports PD3.0, DCP, SAM 2A, and Apple 2.4A charging protocols.
The PDO message shows that this USB-C interface has three fixed voltage levels: 5V3A, 9V2.22A, and 12V1.67A.
In addition, it was measured that the USB-A port supports DCP, SAM 2A, and Apple 2.4A charging protocols.
It was measured that the other USB-A port is compatible with the same protocol.
Baseus T-Space Expansion Dock Disassembly
After reading the unboxing and testing of this car docking station from Baseus, let’s disassemble it and take a look at the design and materials of this docking station.
First, pry open the cover of the docking station. The internal USB-C input cable and USB-C retractable cable are both connected using the USB-C female socket.
The USB-C retractable cable mechanism is secured with an orange plastic plate and screws.
The input and output leads connect via a USB-C socket.
