Electric curtains are one of the essential household items in every smart family. They are mainly composed of an intelligent controller system that controls the opening and closing of curtains, a wireless controller that operates and sets the main controller, and an actuator that pulls the curtains. It is a way to wirelessly control curtains through motor drive, and the Hall switch mainly plays the role of controlling the motor.

The sensors used in the motors inside the curtain actuators are mainly controlled by Hall switches, which generally use bipolar latch Hall switches. The AH542 from Alpha is a highly sensitive bipolar Hall switch chip designed based on BCDMOS technology. The chip includes temperature compensation, comparators, and output drivers. In addition, mechanical stress has little effect on the magnetic parameters of the chip, and it is also very suitable for industrial environments and automotive applications, meeting the AEC-Q100 automotive electronics industry test standards.

The AH542 is a monolithic integrated circuit. If a magnetic field perpendicular to the flux lines in the sensitive area is applied to the chip, the bias causes the Hall voltage to be proportional to the magnetic field. The Hall voltage is compared to the actual threshold level in a comparator, and if the magnetic field exceeds the threshold level, the output switches to the appropriate state. Built-in hysteresis eliminates oscillations and provides a latched output switch state.

The chip uses chopper compensation technology to compensate for offsets caused by mechanical stress, and has built-in reverse voltage protection without series resistors or diodes on the power line. In any of the following fault conditions, the open-drain output is forced into a safe high-impedance state: overtemperature and undervoltage. In addition, the output current is limited (short-circuit protection).

AH542 Hall switch chip features:

•Operating voltage: 3.0 V~30 V

•ESD up to: ±12KV

• Overvoltage protection up to 40V

•Strong resistance to mechanical stress

• Temperature range: -40°C~150°C

• Power pins are reverse voltage protected

The bipolar latching Hall switch AH542 has three packaging forms, namely TO92S, Small-SOT23, and SOT23-3L, and the packaging complies with the ROHS standard. The chip has a certain price advantage, and Guoxin Sichen can provide stable supply services and technical support. In short, the application of electric curtain Hall switches can improve the precise control and safety of electric curtains, making them more intelligent and convenient.
