Circuit board design startup Quilter (Menlo Park, Calif.) has successfully raised $10 million in funding to advance its circuit board design automation technology.
At present, the company's business model has not been clear, and it is unclear whether it provides licensable EDA software or related services. However, the company said its software tools are currently in beta and are free for users to use.
This round of financing was led by Benchmark. Quilter claims that they are developing an artificial intelligence-based PCB design technology that will be able to continuously optimize and improve itself over time.
The company was founded in 2019 by Sergiy Nesterenko and currently has a team of 12 employees working remotely.
“Our goal is to build a technology similar to a circuit board software compiler to enable full automation of circuit board design,” Nesterenko said in a statement posted on the company’s website.
The company believes that through complete automation, hardware iteration speed can be increased by 10 times. Nesterenko said fully automated PCB design technology has the potential to shorten the design process from months to weeks or even days, while also reducing costs and increasing board production efficiency.
However, the software's performance in digital vs. analog or RF and microwave design has not been discussed and proven.
