Often, the programming level of an engineer can be seen from his program comments. A high-level program backup requires concise and practical program comments. Don't let yourself not understand the program you wrote after a while, which will be a very sad thing. Today we will talk about five types of annoying comments and five types of industrial control technicians who generate them.

Tsundere

This type of configuration personnel thinks highly of their configuration ability, so much so that they feel the need to sign their name after each line of code, so that everyone who maintains or has seen the ladder diagram knows of their existence. Why do I feel like they are talking about me?

Obsolete

If a line of ladder diagram is no longer used (i.e., outdated), delete it - do not replace it with a jump or a never-closed normally open, thus cluttering your working ladder diagram with lines of redundant comments.

Obvious

We all know the basic working logic of PLC configuration - this is not "Introduction to Programming"! You don't need to waste time explaining the obvious working principle of the configuration logic, and although we appreciate that you are willing to explain what the code does - it is just superfluous.

Biographical

If you must mention something necessary in the ladder diagram, don't mention the name of the person. For example, "Author: I am the best in my village". Maybe this person has left the company, and the PLC personnel who read the code may not know who he is, not to mention the irrelevant things in the comments.

Procrastination

If there is something that needs fixing, do it now, rather than putting it off for a long time and writing a nostalgic note in a corner that will confuse others.
