There is actually not much difference between the remote control infrared receiver and the set-top box receiver. Now many infrared receivers can be used universally on different products as long as the working voltage, carrier frequency and wavelength of the infrared receiver are the same, and more importantly, it meets the reception range of your infrared remote control. For example, some set-top boxes used in public places are installed in cabinets, so an external remote control head needs to be led out of the cabinet.

Digital TV remote controls use transmitting tubes, while network set-top boxes and TVs use infrared receivers. Although infrared transmitting and receiving diodes must have the same frequency (the infrared spectrum is also very wide), remote control infrared receivers are widely used. Various types of air conditioners, digital entertainment TVs, set-top boxes, etc. cannot be used interchangeably. Most of them are not interoperable under the rules of encoding and decoding.
