In the capacitor industry, we often see many special terms such as filtering, resonance, decoupling, etc. These special terms are not a big deal for people who have been in the capacitor industry for a long time, but they are still relatively confusing for novices who have just entered the capacitor industry, such as me. Before entering the industry, I only knew that there were circuit boards on electronic products, and the circuit boards were composed of various small parts, but I didn’t know what those parts on the circuit boards were called and what their functions were.

DC Blocking: Blocks direct current from passing through but allows alternating current to pass through.

Bypass: Provides a low-impedance path for certain harmful parts of the signal, filters out interference from the input signal, and provides a low-impedance leakage path for high-frequency switching noise.

Decoupling: Also known as decoupling, it removes noise on the chip power supply. It has the same function as the bypass capacitor, but the bypass filters out the interference in the input signal, while the decoupling filters out the interference in the output signal, filtering out the interference of the input signal and preventing the interference signal from returning to the power supply.

Coupling: The capacitor used in the coupling circuit is called a coupling capacitor. It is mostly used in the transmission and amplification of low-frequency signals to prevent the static operating points of the front and rear circuits from affecting each other. It plays the role of isolating DC and passing AC.

Filtering: Filter out specific frequency bands in the signal to suppress and prevent signal interference.

Energy storage: The charge is collected by a rectifier and the stored energy is transferred to the output of the power supply.

Timing: It is used to control the size of the time constant, thereby realizing the control of the charging and discharging time of the capacitor.
