Intel will release the next generation of Core later this year and introduce the new Core Ultra brand for the first time, while retaining Core i and Core, which is quite confusing. The product level is also a mess, with new and old mixed together, including the new Meteor Lake and the upgraded version of Raptor Lake.
Today, Intel's official processor identification tool has quietly added support for "Raptor Lake Refresh", which is obviously the vest of the 13th generation Core.
At the same time, many motherboard manufacturers have disclosed that the 600 and 700 series motherboards will support the next-generation processors, which is naturally the desktop version of Raptor Lake Refresh.
According to previously announced information, Meteor Lake will only have a mobile version of the P series, and it is the only one called the first generation Core Ultra, including Core Ultra 9, Core Ultra 7, and Core Ultra 5.
The Raptor Lake HX series high-end mobile version and S series desktop version continue to use Core i, which is classified as the 14th generation Core i, including Core i9, Core i7, Core i5, and Core i3.
The low-power mobile versions of the Raptor Lake U series are simply called the first-generation Cores, Core 7, Core 5, and Core 3.
As for what exactly this Raptor Lake upgraded version will upgrade, it is still unknown for the time being, but it is nothing more than increasing the main frequency, opening more cores/caches, and increasing memory frequency.
