Infineon Technologies Launches Complete Power Management Solution Supporting Next Generation Intel Xeon Processors to Improve Performance and Energy Efficiency in Data Centers
[Munich, Germany, April 19, 2022] Infineon Technologies AG recently announced the launch of a complete power management solution to support computing servers based on Intel Sapphire Rapids processors (CPUs) . This new solution using "surface mount" technology integrates a variety of Infineon power management devices and technologies, including XDP™ digital multi-phase controllers, OptiMOS™ integrated power stage devices and OptiMOS IPOL regulators, which can provide excellent power efficiency and excellent performance, helping to fully tap the energy-saving potential of data centers and promote green and low-carbon development.
“These power management solutions integrate Infineon’s software-defined digital multiphase controllers, best-in-class integrated power stage devices and POL converters to improve energy efficiency and achieve excellent system performance,” said Rakesh Renganathan, Director of Marketing, Power and Sensor Systems Division, Infineon Technologies. “With our leading technology, Infineon provides customers with greater flexibility in system design, allowing them to maximize performance for different workloads and system architectures. We are pleased to bring this new solution to the market to further accelerate the world’s digitalization process.”
The XDPE152 series of ultra-transient phase controllers (XDPE15284D, XDPE15254D, XDPE152C4D) are equipped with an ultra-low power Arm® Cortex®-M0 core , which can maximize flexibility and performance according to different workloads and achieve ultra-fast dynamic load response. The current mode combined with Infineon's proprietary control algorithm only requires minimum output capacitance to effectively control the processor pulse current peak, thereby achieving ultra-high-speed response. In addition, the software-defined architecture also brings unique flexibility to system designers, allowing them to optimize system performance under different system architectures and processor workloads.
The TDA215xx series of OptiMOS integrated power stage devices use the industry-leading OptiMOS 6 technology to provide excellent power efficiency (>95%) and reliability (maximum input voltage 25V), thereby significantly reducing system cooling and maintenance costs.
The OptiMOS IPOL TDA38640 digital voltage converter uses Infineon's proprietary fast constant on-time (COT) control engine for excellent transient response. It is paired with Intel-designed SVID and PMBus interfaces to provide enhanced digital telemetry capabilities.
