Fault phenomenon
A car owner reported that his car had poor acceleration and suspected that the engine ignition was faulty. After connecting the decoder to read the vehicle fault code, the vehicle reported a fault [P001600: Cylinder bank 1, incorrect configuration of the camshaft/crankshaft position sensor]
Troubleshooting
Connect an oscilloscope to detect the camshaft/crankshaft position sensor and ignition trigger signals of the same model with normal vehicle condition:
Then check the camshaft/crankshaft position sensor and ignition trigger signal of the faulty vehicle:
By comparing the waveform diagrams, the cause of the fault is very obvious: there is a significant deviation between the timing signal waveform of the faulty vehicle and that of the normal vehicle. It can be concluded that the relative positions of the engine crankshaft and camshaft do not correspond.
troubleshooting
After checking the engine's crankshaft and camshaft related parts, it turned out that the camshaft gear assembly was loose, causing the timing failure.
As for the vehicle signal waveform, we encourage users to collect and save it for any vehicle they encounter. When they encounter the same vehicle again in the future, they can compare the cause of the fault very intuitively.
