Recently, at the first Dishui Lake China RISC-V Industry Forum co-organized by the China RISC-V Industry Alliance, VeriSilicon Microelectronics and Shanghai Integrated Circuit Industry Cluster Development Promotion Organization, Yang Qing, product line director of Wuhan Feisiling Microelectronics, introduced the application of RISC-V in switches using the company's new products as an example.
Wuhan Feisiling Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. is an integrated circuit design company jointly funded by FiberHome Communications and China Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology under China Information and Communications Technology. It has a full-process solution from demand to chip design and then to system application. The company's goal is to focus on core chips that are urgently needed by the industry, combining self-research with cooperation.
L2 Ethernet Switch SoC
Xuanyuan 1030M is a managed SoC chip with integrated L2 Ethernet switching function, with a processing bandwidth of up to 30Gbps, designed for hub and switch deployment. It has an embedded RISC-V self-controllable CPU with a main frequency of up to 600MHz, which meets the needs of upper-layer protocol processing and device management; it has embedded 2 10G optical interfaces, 4 1G optical interfaces, and 8 1G electrical interfaces, supporting multiple communication protocols; it has complete L2 bridge, VLAN, ACL and Meter functions, and supports L2 multicast, STP, RSTP, mirroring and QinQ, etc.; it has an integrated 1.5Mbytes data cache, supports flow classification based on IEEE 802.1p QoS or DiffServ priority, and rate shaping based on ports and queues with a granularity of 8 Kbps; it has rich scheduling strategies to ensure the stable operation of high-speed networks. Xuanyuan 1030M with independent intellectual property rights, with low-power SoC design and flexible and diverse interfaces, significantly reduces the difficulty of equipment design, shortens the equipment development cycle, and meets the rapidly developing small switching market under the digital economy.
Feisilin has a comprehensive layout of switch chips, including NPU routing, Ethernet slicing processing, Ethernet switching and other products. In addition, according to different processing performance and applications, it has selected processor IPs with different cores, including N600 RSIC-V from Coreline Technology and Arm Cortex-A9.
Entering the automotive-grade MCU market
Yang Qing also introduced the layout of some companies in automotive-grade MCUs. Currently, Feisiling is working with Dongfeng Motor to develop products in three core areas including power safety, driving information, and body electronics.
Among them, power safety applications include steering, braking, battery management, electrical control, engine control, etc. Body electronics can cover lighting, air conditioning, and door and window management, while driving information corresponds to entertainment systems and instrument information.
Yang Qing emphasized that Feisiling has a long history of experience in cyber physics and information security and can fully meet the needs of automotive-grade security. The TRNG module launched by the company has the characteristics of chip DNA, which achieves physical unclonable security. Currently, RISC-V can also support lockstep, so it is very suitable for automotive-grade security applications.
