According to the latest shipment statistics released by IDC, China's wearable device market shipments in the fourth quarter of 2020 were 30.26 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.7%. The shipments of basic wearable devices (wearable devices that do not support third-party applications) were 25.18 million units, a year-on-year increase of 10.3%, and the shipments of smart wearable devices were 5.08 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 3.6%.

That's the same market share Apple held in the fourth quarter of 2019, but overall device shipments were up from 43.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2019. Apple's competitors simply can't come close.

Specifically for manufacturers, Huawei continued to maintain its top position in the market in the fourth quarter, with its headphone product line represented by Freebuds Pro and its GT watch series represented by Watch GT Pro becoming its main sources of growth.

In second place is Xiaomi, whose Air 2 series of Bluetooth earphones and new product Redmi Watch effectively maintained its second position in the market this quarter.

排在第三位的是苹果,它的Apple Watch产品线在Series 6和Series SE的带动下取得了显著增长,帮助其明显缩小了与市场第二位小米的差距。

OPPO is the fourth mobile phone manufacturer to enter the top five in the market. Its wristband products and W series Bluetooth headsets have laid an important foundation for it, and its strong offline channel system has also become a strong support for its shipments.

It is worth mentioning that IDC said that BBK's Little Tiancai children's watch still ranks first in the children's watch market.

Finally, IDC also talked about the situation of China's wearable device market throughout last year. In 2020, China's wearable market shipments reached nearly 110 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%. IDC believes that China's wearable market still has a lot of room for growth.

Apple Watch shipments are estimated to have grown 45.6%, thanks to the different pricing ranges of Apple Watch Series 6, SE, and Series 3, while AirPods Pro and AirPods Max shipments surged during the quarter.

Throughout 2020, IDC believes that Apple sold 151.4 million wearable devices, accounting for 34.1% of the market share. Xiaomi was the second-ranked wearable device manufacturer in 2020, with 50.7 million units shipped, followed by Huawei and Samsung, with 43.5 million and 40 million units shipped, respectively.

Apple does not provide specific shipment numbers for its Apple Watch and AirPods models, so IDC's data is based on its estimates. In its January earnings call, Apple said it expects wearables to set a new revenue record in the first quarter of fiscal 2021 compared to the fourth quarter of 2020. Apple's wearables business is the size of a Fortune 120 company.
