2020 is gradually coming to an end, and the analog television that has accompanied several generations of people growing up is about to end. According to the "Notice on the Work Arrangements for the Planned Shutdown of Terrestrial Analog Television" issued by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, terrestrial analog signals across the country will be shut down before December 31. This also means that the old "big-butt color TV" and "snow TV" will permanently withdraw from the stage, and will be replaced by the currently popular digital TVs.
The reason why analog TVs are being phased out at an accelerated pace has a lot to do with the evolution of transmission technology. Analog TVs use terrestrial analog signal technology to transmit signals. Due to the disadvantages of analog signal technology such as high loss and susceptibility to interference, the picture quality of analog TVs is generally not high. Digital TVs use data compression technology to transmit signals, and the decoding capabilities of TV chips can restore images and sounds. The entire process can greatly reduce signal interference and loss problems.
TV chips largely determine the upper limit of a digital TV's picture quality, and MediaTek's TV chips are the industry leader. Take its industry-leading 8K TV chip S900 as an example. The shutdown of analog signals means that digital TVs have completely replaced analog TVs.
