The "12th China Automotive Blue Book Forum 2020" was officially held in Wuhan. As the first grand event jointly organized by the government, enterprises and media in the automotive industry in the post-epidemic era, this forum consists of more than 30 keynote speeches and 23 roundtable discussions. 130 heavyweight guests including senior practitioners, corporate executives, institutional experts and other senior practitioners from various fields of the automotive industry will attend the forum to conduct in-depth discussions on key issues in the automotive industry such as "intelligence", "networking", "electrification", "digitalization" and "operationalization".
At the roundtable forum with the theme of "Welcoming the Next Era of Internet of Vehicles", six guests had a heated discussion. Su Tan, general manager of Baidu's Internet of Vehicles Division, said: "The next generation of Internet of Vehicles must be highly ecological and highly fluid, and can well meet the top rigid needs and many long-tail needs of users in travel, allowing users to really put down their phones and enjoy driving."
Talking about the entire development process of the Internet of Vehicles. Su Tan believes that there are three generations of development of the Internet of Vehicles. The first generation of Internet of Vehicles products is a pioneering product, which is more about solving a problem of whether there is a product or not, but it has not been well used by users. At present, we are in an era with AI as the core of the product. It has smart maps and a better ecology, which basically meets the rigid needs of the top users. It has initially achieved the goal of letting users put down their mobile phones in the car and establish stickiness with users. This generation of Internet of Vehicles products has basically achieved popularization. However, putting down the phone is only physically putting it down, not psychologically. At present, the Internet of Vehicles does not really meet users' expectations for mobile phones. The next generation of Internet of Vehicles must be highly ecological and highly fluid. The introduction of this ecology and demand is the solution for the next generation of Internet of Vehicles to truly allow users to release more demands.
Sutan gave his own views on the key technologies for the future development of the Internet of Vehicles and the ideal cooperation model between the Internet of Vehicles platform and OEM. He believes that the application of AI in the field of Internet of Vehicles is far from enough and needs to be greatly improved. Many user needs are actually suppressed. Through the background data, we can see that every innovation, every OTA promotion, and some experience upgrades will release many user needs. This is like the process of Jobs reinventing the mobile phone. When Jobs brought multi-touch and the entire Apple to the industry, the changes in the interaction mode and technological experience released the needs of users. In a sense, this will also happen in the Chinese Internet of Vehicles industry. In the future, how to find a unified application platform on the hardware base and on different hardware architectures is a common issue faced by Internet of Vehicles platforms such as Baidu and OEMs. It is necessary to find solutions together for the overall pain points of the industry. These solutions can bring efficiency improvements to the entire industry.
With the arrival of the next generation of Internet of Vehicles, many development models will change. Cars will change from meeting basic user needs to a truly digital cockpit. This year, we will release a digital base solution for the next generation of Internet of Vehicles: Xiaodu Car 2021. At present, Xiaodu Car has been widely used. I hope that the upgraded version of Xiaodu Car 2021 will bring about the improvement of basic capabilities such as ecological intelligent connection, intelligent driving, and vehicle-road collaboration, so that the development efficiency and development model of the entire industry can be rapidly improved. In the final analysis, efficiency has been improved, the model has changed, and everyone has quickly made the products that users want, so that consumers can buy the intelligent products they want. This is what we hope to do, Su Tan revealed.
Through Baidu's layout in core technologies such as autonomous driving, Baidu has become one of the companies with the most comprehensive layout in the Internet of Vehicles. At present, Baidu has a fully autonomous and controllable full-chain AI solution including voice, vision, and autonomous driving technologies. Baidu has fully opened the Xiaodu in-vehicle platform, committed to enabling OEMs to have multi-dimensional connectivity capabilities, which can support OEMs in customized development and expansion, so that every OEM can have its own intelligent car networking system.
As a leader in China's Internet of Vehicles, Baidu Internet of Vehicles has joined hands with 300 leading ecological partners and cooperated with more than 60 automobile companies, with more than 400 models launched in cooperation. Xiaodu Car provides navigation services to more than 10 million users every day, with 15 million voice interactions per month, and accompanies users for more than 1 billion kilometers. Based on its hard-core technical strength and ecological strength, Baidu Internet of Vehicles has become the champion choice of major domestic and foreign automobile giants. For example, Ford, Great Wall, Hyundai, Lexus, Buick and other automobile brands have maintained close cooperation with Baidu Internet of Vehicles.
In the future, Baidu Internet of Vehicles will continue to uphold the "open and win-win" cooperation concept, and while leading industry innovation, it will also be committed to helping partners upgrade their cars to smart and digital levels, and accelerate the evolution of the smart car-connected ecosystem. We have reason to believe that in the next era of Internet of Vehicles, China's cars will be more intelligent and connected, and will become an important force in the global Internet of Vehicles.
