Kingston announced that according to the latest data released by market research firm DRAMeXchange, Kingston is still the world's largest memory stick manufacturer, with product revenue reaching US$11.954 billion in 2018, accounting for as much as 72.17% of the market share.
How far has Kingston Memory dominated? The second-ranked American company, SMART Modular, has a share of only 5.07% and annual revenue of US$839 million.
Kingston also revealed that the total capacity of memory sticks, solid-state drives, and embedded storage shipped in 2018 exceeded 14 trillion MB, or about 14 billion GB.
The top ten include: Ramaxel 4.68%, ADATA 3.89%, Tigo 2.08%, POWEV 2.05%, Transcend 1.04%, Apacer 0.96%, Team Group 0.87%, and Innodisk 0.67%.
After Kingston, the combined share of the other nine companies is only 21.3%, less than one-third of Kingston, while the share of manufacturers outside the top ten is only 6.53%.
In terms of memory prices, spot prices were high in the first half of 2018, even 20% higher than the contract price. Prices began to fall in the second half of the year due to inventory backlogs, but the profit margins of memory stick manufacturers are still very generous.
