Due to the incomplete traffic infrastructure and the lack of police resources, various traffic problems occur frequently in my country. In order to solve various traffic problems and promote the intelligent development and upgrading of road traffic, robots have begun to be used more and more widely.
Transportation is an indispensable key factor in the development of a city. It determines the circulation and interconnection of various production factors in the city and undertakes the important task of transporting people and logistics. Therefore, it is crucial to protect road safety and smooth traffic on a daily basis.
However, due to the inadequate traffic infrastructure and the lack of police resources, various traffic problems occur frequently in my country. In view of this, robots have begun to be used more and more widely to solve various traffic problems and promote the intelligent development and upgrading of road traffic.
On August 7, the first robot traffic police in Handan was successfully launched, opening a new chapter in the development and application of robot traffic police in my country. It is reported that Handan City has launched three robots at once: road patrol, vehicle management consultation and accident warning, which are respectively used in major scenes such as traffic arteries, vehicle management business halls and traffic accident scenes, marking that Handan City's smart traffic management has officially entered a new era of intelligence.
Robots frequently appear in the transportation field
The appearance of the above-mentioned robot traffic police is not the first case.
In recent years, with the development of robot technology and the rapid maturity of the industry, the continuous improvement of robot performance, cost and function has made it widely used in various fields. In addition to industries such as industry, agriculture, finance, education, and medical care, national and local public security departments and traffic police departments have also become frequent users of robot products.
For example, in 2016, Beijing took the lead in trying to use the robot traffic policeman "Xiao Wen", which captured people who ran red lights on the streets of Beijing and guided traffic, providing certain assistance to law enforcement personnel; afterwards, Beijing once again used a "mobile guardrail patrol robot". Known as a "law enforcement artifact", the robot shuttled back and forth on the highway guardrails to capture photos, and the effect was amazing!
At the same time, in 2017, Xiangyang, Hubei also began to use the traffic robot "Safe Baby", which provided traffic assistance through arm command, light prompts, voice warnings, safety publicity, etc., and also demonstrated significant value; in addition, in 2018, Wenzhou also welcomed the first traffic violation review robot, which performed review work at the command center with the power of one for twenty, effectively reducing the pressure and releasing the traffic police reviewers.
Since 2016, the use of robots to assist in law enforcement has become a mainstream practice in traffic police departments. We often see robot traffic police at important times such as holidays, morning and evening rush hours, and in important places such as train stations, highways, and intersections. So far, the number of provinces and cities across the country that have applied or tried to apply robot traffic police has reached more than double digits, and robot-assisted traffic law enforcement and management is becoming the norm.
What is the value of a “robot traffic policeman”?
So, what value does the application of robots bring to the transportation sector? Why has it attracted so many countries, provinces, cities and towns to deploy them? In fact, on the one hand, this is related to the high efficiency, high speed, high stability and full coverage of robot traffic police in actual applications; on the other hand, it is also closely related to the resource replenishment and manpower liberation brought about by "robot replacement".
Compared with traditional traffic management methods, robots have the advantages of flexible application, convenient use, and continuous operation. They can autonomously and efficiently carry out tasks such as traffic command, illegal capture, and traffic processing, greatly improving the efficiency and effectiveness of traffic management and auxiliary law enforcement. At the same time, they are not restricted by factors such as bad weather and environment, and can "stick to their posts and perform their duties" for a long time.
In actual applications, robot traffic police can not only be used for tasks such as road condition inspections, traffic reminders, violation evidence collection, accident handling, road clearing, etc., but can also assist police officers in handling heavy data entry, violation review, data analysis and other tasks. They can charge into battle on the front line and strategize in the rear. They can be said to be "both civil and military" and have comprehensive value.
In addition, by replacing people with machines, robots have effectively solved the problems of insufficient police resources in the original traffic field, and achieved reasonable dispatch and reduced pressure on the existing police force. With technologies such as AI and big data, robots can better undertake tasks such as capturing, recording, and reviewing violations in traffic, while police officers can do more to execute and handle them. The clear division of labor and cooperation between the two undoubtedly promote the efficiency and speed of traffic operation and maintenance.
There are three more things you need to do to mature!
In summary, the application of robots in the field of transportation has significant value for people, objects and industries. It is no wonder that it has become an important part of the development of "smart transportation". But is the development of robot traffic police mature? Obviously not! In the future, to promote the full implementation of smart transportation, it is necessary to realize the mature application of robot traffic police. To achieve this, it is necessary to start from the following three aspects:
First of all, in terms of technology, Chinese companies need to strengthen key breakthroughs and innovative research and development. The current application of robot traffic police still has shortcomings such as single function, insufficient stability, and short life span, which need to be overcome and expanded from a technical level. In addition, due to the high cost of technology research and development, the application price of robot products is also high, which hinders its future large-scale application and development, and also needs to be upgraded and adjusted from the perspective of technology and materials.
Secondly, in terms of regulations, the Chinese government needs to strengthen law enforcement management and privacy protection. At present, there are still few laws and regulations in my country for robot traffic police products, which makes robots lack strict regulations and management in production and application, which easily leads to various problems such as low product quality, insufficient applicability, and lack of privacy security. In view of this, in the future, my country will also need to support and protect robot applications from different angles through the formulation of relevant product standards, industry standards, laws and regulations.
Finally, in terms of management, my country should strengthen the effective protection of robot traffic police. At present, the self-protection ability of robot traffic police is not very high. When unattended, they are easily damaged or stolen, which will cause huge property losses to relevant departments. In this case, relevant departments need to strengthen the "care" and management of robot traffic police without increasing the pressure on police force, and at the same time accelerate the cultivation of public protection awareness and jointly create a good development environment.
