4D millimeter-wave radar, also known as 4D imaging millimeter-wave radar, 4D refers to the four dimensions of range, velocity, horizontal angle (Azimuth) and elevation (Elevation). Compared with cameras and lidars, millimeter-wave radars have stronger penetration capabilities and can penetrate obstacles such as fog, smoke, and dust, so they can still work normally in bad weather and environments. In addition, millimeter-wave radars are not restricted by lighting conditions and can work normally during the day, at night, in strong backlight and in the absence of light, with good all-weather performance. In terms of mechanical structure, the simple mechanical structure and low cost of millimeter-wave radars are also advantages of millimeter-wave radars over lidars.
