On July 29, Geely disassembled the battery pack of a Galaxy E5 endurance test vehicle with a verified mileage of over 300,000 kilometers through a live broadcast, and conducted a health test on a Shield Dagger battery pack that had undergone 921 charge and discharge cycles. The results showed that after the Galaxy E5 had traveled 300,000 kilometers in high temperature, high cold, and high humidity environments, the battery pack structure was still intact and well protected. After completing 921 full charge and discharge endurance tests, the Shield Dagger battery pack still had a health rating of 90.5%.
To ensure the safety and reliability of the vehicle, each Geely model must undergo various test verification scenarios such as high temperature, high cold, and plateau before it is launched on the market, covering the entire vehicle field including power, chassis, electronic appliances, interior and exterior decoration, cockpit, intelligent driving, etc. The Galaxy E5 whose battery pack was disassembled this time is one of the vehicles that Geely has conducted durability verification in the early stage.
Galaxy E5 300,000 km endurance test vehicle
The disassembly results show that even after 300,000 kilometers of driving in high temperature, cold and high humidity, the structure of the Aegis Dagger battery pack on the Galaxy E5 is still intact and well protected. After removing the top cover, it can be seen that there is no dust or foreign matter in the battery pack, and the battery cells have not deformed or leaked.
The Aegis Dagger battery pack adopts the industry-leading CTB configuration and adopts a more solid field-shaped frame in the protection structure of a single pack. Between the battery cell and the frame, the entire pack reserves a large energy absorption buffer space, coupled with multiple protection designs such as liquid-electric separation, electrical isolation, and heat conduction, which comprehensively improves the safety level of the battery pack.
Battery pack six extreme tests China Automotive Technology and Research Center certificate
In addition, the Aegis Dagger battery pack has passed the six serial tests conducted by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center. After the same Aegis Dagger battery pack has continuously challenged the six devil tests of "sea wave immersion, extreme cold on the plateau, high-frequency bottom scraping, 26-ton violent crushing, single-pack side column collision, and fire burning", it has achieved no smoke, no fire, no explosion, and all parameters are normal after standing. Among them, many single test requirements are higher than the national standard, and there are also many industry-first high-difficulty test conditions.
In addition to publicly disassembling the battery pack, Geely also tested the health of the Aegis Dagger battery pack for the first time during the live broadcast. A Aegis Dagger battery pack that has completed 921 full charge and discharge cycles is enough for the entire vehicle to achieve a mileage of over 400,000 kilometers, and the measured health is still as high as 90.5%. The battery packs of similar products on the market currently have a health level that decays to 80% after completing 500 charge and discharge cycles (about 250,000 kilometers of mileage), and the cycle life is much lower than that of the Aegis Dagger battery pack.
Charging cycle data
The durability of the Aegis Dagger battery pack is due to the long cycle life of the battery cell. Compared with the Long Blade, the Aegis Dagger battery cell is shorter, has a lower internal resistance, and generates less heat. It also uses multi-element doped positive electrode materials and small-particle negative electrode materials, and uses a special coating method to greatly reduce the electrochemical side reactions of the materials and significantly extend the battery cell cycle performance.
The Aegis Dagger battery cell has a cycle life of up to 3,500 cycles, which is equivalent to a mileage of more than 1 million kilometers. One generation of Aegis Dagger batteries can fully serve two generations of vehicles. It not only solves the problem of low value retention rate of used pure electric cars, but also effectively delays the large-scale retirement of batteries and reduces carbon emissions from battery retirement, disassembly and recycling.

In addition, the Shield Short Blade battery also has the advantages of ultra-fast charging and low temperature resistance. The charging time from 10 to 80% SOC is only 17 minutes and 4 seconds, and the average charging rate can reach 2.45C, far exceeding the 1.61C of the Long Blade battery. Even in a -30℃ environment, the capacity retention rate of the Shield Short Blade battery is still as high as 90.54%, while the Long Blade battery is only 78.96%.
Geely Galaxy E5 , the first model equipped with the Aegis Dagger battery, will be officially launched on August 3. The pre-sale price was previously announced to be 123,000-157,000 yuan. The new car will be available in five versions: 440km Departure Edition, 440km Exploration Edition, 530km Far Voyage Edition, 530km Exploration+ Edition, and 530km Starship Edition.
