Application scenarios:
Due to the continuous and rapid development of new energy vehicles, the health and safety issues of automotive power batteries have gradually been put on the agenda. If the power battery current is too large or the temperature is too high, it will easily damage the internal structure of the battery or related accessories, thereby shortening the battery life. In severe cases, it may even cause the battery to catch fire, which poses a great threat to the health and safety of the vehicle, driver, passengers and surrounding personnel. In order to provide solutions to the above problems and promote the development of China's new energy vehicle market and the advancement of the new four modernizations of automobiles, Continental has developed a new high-voltage current sensor module (CSM). The module integrates shunt technology and Hall technology in a compact unit to achieve dual-channel current detection. While providing the battery management system with the current (dual-channel) parameters of the high-voltage battery, it also provides the temperature parameters of the sensor. The CSM will then provide the above information to the battery management system through the CAN interface. In addition to optimizing charging efficiency and protecting the battery, the CSM will also help detect mechanical failures to avoid fires caused by undetected failures.
Future prospects:
With the popularity of new energy vehicles, high-voltage current sensor modules will also become a rigid demand for high-voltage battery monitoring. In the future, they will support more battery status signals such as voltage, and can also be used for other new energy fuel cells (such as hydrogen fuel cells). Therefore, their applications will be more extensive, and the market assembly rate and market share will also increase steadily. In addition, the functional safety level of CSM products is as high as ASIL C (D), which can monitor various current and temperature indicators of high-voltage batteries more continuously and safely. Today, when functional safety is increasingly valued, it will be more and more favored by the market.
