On March 14, NIO held a long-life battery strategic communication meeting. At the meeting, NIO proposed a long-life battery solution. The goal is to use the healthy operation of the full life cycle of power batteries and independent innovation of battery technology to achieve 15 years of power battery use, while ensuring that the health of the battery at the end of its life is not less than 85%. .
At the same time, NIO also officially signed a cooperation agreement with CATL on the long-life battery research and development project.
As early as January 17, 2023, Weilai and CATL signed a five-year comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement to deepen cooperation involving technical cooperation on new brands, new projects, and new markets, linkage between supply and demand, overseas business expansion, and long-term Long-life battery business model cooperation and other fields.
In this regard, this signing is the official implementation of the long-life battery cooperation project between the two parties, and there may be substantial action this year.
Weike.com Lithium Battery has noticed that long-life batteries are likely to be the focus of the research and development layout of some car companies' battery business in the future. In addition to NIO, CATL announced on November 17 last year that it would deepen cooperation with GAC Group in new technology research and development, Shenxing supercharged battery supply, business model exploration, and market collaborative development.
Among them, CATL and GAC Group will jointly develop the "low-temperature version" and "long-life version" of Shenxing superchargeable batteries to solve the current concerns of new energy vehicle consumers in aspects such as low-temperature charging and battery life. It is reported that Shenxing's "long-life version" will support an ultra-long battery core warranty of 8 years or 800,000 kilometers and is expected to be officially launched in June this year.
In contrast, it is also a big suspense as to which battery or re-developed battery will be used by NIO and CATL to start cooperation on long-life battery projects.
After the signing was completed, NIO also announced that it would adjust the BaaS battery rental service price system from now on. After the adjustment, if you purchase a standard battery pack and use the BaaS method, the car price will be reduced by 70,000 yuan, and the monthly service fee will be 728 yuan/month; if you purchase a long-range battery pack and use the BaaS method, the car price will be reduced by 128,000 yuan, and the monthly service fee will be 728 yuan/month. The service fee is 1,128 yuan/month.
After the communication meeting, NIO founder and chairman Li Bin and co-founder Qin Lihong accepted a group interview with the media. It is reported that Weilai said that it currently has two battery partners, CATL and China New Aviation, and there will be new partners in the future.
It is worth mentioning that NIO’s second brand “Ledao”, whose English name is “ONVO”, will be officially released in mid-to-early May.
