Preface

At present, the entire automotive chip market has high requirements in terms of safety and reliability, such as AEC-Q testing and ASIL product certification, to achieve product functional safety for product development, production, process management/control, etc. However, most chips in the automotive market are monopolized by foreign manufacturers, such as Renesas, NXP, Infineon, Texas Instruments, Microchip, STMicroelectronics, etc. Our country is currently in a situation where domestic substitution is insufficient and the self-sufficiency rate is low, and we urgently need to accelerate breakthroughs.

According to the different application fields of semiconductors in automobiles, automobile chips can be divided into memory chips, power chips, analog chips, etc. by type. In this issue, we will share with you the layout of the domestic automotive-grade chip industry, driven by the accelerated process of domestic substitution.

01 Power chips

New energy vehicles are the main source of incremental demand for power devices. Among them, the largest increases are mainly IGBT modules, SiC modules, MOSFET and GaN products. Among them, the newly added power devices are mainly used in power system components such as main drive inverters, on-board chargers (OBC), and DC-DC converters.

Silan Micro's electric vehicle main motor drive modules based on self-developed V-generation IGBT and FRD have begun mass supply to some customers. As of August 2022, the company has a monthly production capacity of 70,000 automotive-grade power modules;
