Qualcomm officially announced today that it will acquire Autotalks, an Israeli automotive communications chip manufacturer, to strengthen the Snapdragon Digital Chassis product portfolio by accelerating the adoption timeline of V2X technology, hoping to deepen its automotive business, but did not elaborate on the financial status of the transaction. .
Autotalks currently mainly produces specialized chips in the field of autonomous driving, used in vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication technology for smart cars, aiming to improve road safety.
Nakul Duggal, senior vice president of automotive at Qualcomm Incorporated, said: “We have been investing in V2X research, development and deployment since 2017 and believe that as the automotive market matures, a standalone V2X security architecture will be needed to improve road users’ safety. security, and intelligent transportation systems.”
Qualcomm said last year that its automotive business had grown to US$30 billion (IT House note: currently about 207.3 billion yuan), an increase of more than US$10 billion since the end of July.
