Guangzhou Automobile Group announced on March 27 that the GAC Aian AH8 project of its controlling subsidiary was changed from joint development with Huawei to independent development. After this change, Huawei will continue to participate in the development and cooperation of the company's own brand models as an important supplier; The total project investment was adjusted from 925 million yuan to 1.233 billion yuan, and the funds will be raised by ourselves.
On March 28, in response to the news that the cooperation model between Huawei and GAC Aian AH8 project was "downgraded" from the Huawei Inside model to the parts supplier model, Huawei responded to a Securities Times reporter:
AH8 is an independent high-end model of GAC Aian and an important strategic model in GAC Aian model planning. After full communication and comprehensive judgment based on the actual situation, GAC and Huawei decided to adjust it to Aian's independent development. After this adjustment, Huawei will continue to Participate in the development and cooperation of GAC Group’s own brand models as an important supplier.
In addition, GAC and Huawei have already carried out in-depth cooperation in various fields such as enterprise digital transformation and intelligent connected vehicle solutions. The above cooperation will be promoted as originally planned and new mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation projects will be explored based on actual conditions.
In July last year, GAC Group announced that it had agreed to implement the project between its subsidiaries Aion and Huawei (AH8 model). This also means that Aian becomes the third car company to confirm that it is equipped with Huawei Inside mode after BAIC and Changan.
According to the strategic cooperation agreement signed by Aian and Huawei, the two parties will build a new generation of smart car digital platform based on GAC's GEP3.0 chassis platform and Huawei's CCA (Computing and Communication Architecture), equipped with Huawei's full-stack smart car solution, and jointly define, Jointly develop and jointly create a series of smart cars for the future.
On August 13 last year, Xiao Yong, deputy general manager of GAC Aian, complained at a conference forum, "Huawei is a big-name supplier. Its prices are relatively high and uncontrolled. If we want to cooperate with Huawei, we will find that basically No bargaining power.”
Caixin reported that an insider close to Huawei revealed that the in-depth cooperation project between Huawei and GAC Aian has been suspended, and now the two parties have a parts supply and procurement relationship. In response to this news, the relevant person in charge of Aian responded to Jiemian News and said, "This is not true. Our cooperation projects with Huawei are still progressing normally." Huawei has not responded.
