We know that as the temperature drops, the endurance of electric vehicles will also decrease, and turning on the air conditioner will further reduce the endurance of the car, which also forces some drivers with endurance anxiety to wear cotton-padded jackets to keep out the cold.

Automotive supplier ZF recently announced its latest technology, called Heat Belt. The original intention of this technology is to use seat belts to heat passengers, thereby reducing the power consumed by air conditioning. Indirectly improve the cruising range of electric vehicles.

ZF's heated seat belt system can heat the passenger's body at the same time as the heated seat. Theoretically, the driver and passengers only need to turn on the seat belt heating and seat heating, without turning on the air conditioning to heat the entire cabin. Feel comfortable enough while driving.

It is understood that the Heat-Belt is a three-point safety belt that is heated with wires in the fabric, and ZF used a special textile processing method for this innovation. The heating conductors are woven into the structure of the seat belt and the contact elements of the electrical heating circuit are positioned in such a way that they do not affect the operation or retraction of the seat belt.

ZF pointed out that for electric vehicles, using this heated seat belt instead of the traditional air conditioning control system will bring an improvement of up to 15%.

ZF explained that the biggest advantage of this technology is short-distance journeys. Electric cars are very inefficient at heating the internal air through air conditioning, and the air heated with a lot of energy will not be used for a long time.
