On January 5, 2023, Quectel Communications (stock code: 603236), the world's leading provider of Internet of Things and Internet of Vehicles solutions, announced the official launch of the AG59x series of automotive-grade 5G NR modules that comply with 3GPP Release 16 standards. Compared with Quectel's first-generation 5G vehicle module, AG59x has superior performance in 5G transmission rate, low latency, high reliability, C-V2X PC5 direct communication capabilities, location services, high computing power and security. Great improvements and improvements make it an ideal solution to support next-generation intelligent connected car applications.
Quectel AG59x includes the AG59xH series based on Qualcomm SA525M platform and the AG59xE series based on Qualcomm SA522M platform. Their built-in chips are all compliant with AEC-Q100 standards. Similar to Quectel's other automotive products, the AG59x series is developed and manufactured in strict accordance with IATF16949:2016 automotive industry quality management system standards. It can withstand harsh environmental tests, has superior anti-static and anti-electromagnetic interference performance, and can meet the needs of safe driving, Autonomous driving, intelligent transportation systems and other application requirements. At the same time, this series of products has stronger high-temperature performance and still has strong robustness even in high-temperature environments.
Wang Min, General Manager of Quectel's Automotive Business Unit, said: "We are very pleased that we can be the first to provide the highly anticipated 5G R16 module to the automotive industry. R16 technology has significantly improved performance in terms of low latency and ultra-reliability, which is very important for supporting AG59x also plays a vital role in the implementation of autonomous driving on a large scale. It also has many other leading performances and can become the basis for in-vehicle applications such as telematics processors, telematics control units, C-V2X systems, in-vehicle units and roadside units. Excellent solution.”
AG59x supports 5G NR independent networking (SA) and non-standalone networking (NSA) modes, and is backward compatible with existing LTE, UMTS and GSM networks, so stable connections can be achieved in areas where 5G NR networks are not currently deployed. In addition, the AG59x series supports dual-SIM dual standby (DSDS) function, which can solve the problem of poor signal coverage when necessary.
In terms of cellular communication capabilities, AG59x supports 4 x 4 MIMO technology, which can greatly improve the wireless communication performance of the module and increase the data transmission rate. Among them, AG59xH supports a maximum downstream rate of 4.4 Gbps and an upstream rate of 900 Mbps, while AG59xE provides a peak downstream rate of 2.4 Gbps and an upstream rate of 550 Mbps. The increase in data transmission rate can ensure that key information such as user emergency data and diagnostic data can be transmitted in real time, further enhancing the reliability of intelligent connected cars.
AG59x series modules support the optional C-V2X PC5 Mode 4 direct communication function, using the globally unified ITS 5.9GHz frequency band to provide low-latency and highly reliable information transmission for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I). , obtain the status and intentions of traffic participants within beyond line of sight or non-line of sight range to improve traffic efficiency and safety. AG59x integrates a powerful multi-core processor with a CPU computing power of up to 20K DMIPS. It supports running C-V2X protocol stack and applications. The built-in ECDSA engine can improve C-V2X signature verification performance.
When intelligent connected vehicles sense the surrounding traffic environment, they need to accurately determine their current location to assist smart car decision-making. This is inseparable from the participation of GNSS high-precision positioning technology. AG59x provides flexible GNSS positioning services and supports multiple technologies such as L1+L5 / L1+L2 (optional) dual-frequency GNSS, inertial navigation (DR), GNSS data post-processing engine (PPE) and data correction services to help vehicles Achieve fast, accurate and reliable positioning services in various environments.
In appearance, the AG59x series uses LGA packaging and is compatible with Quectel's first-generation 5G car-scale modules AG55xQ series and AG57xQ series. Existing automotive customer equipment can be seamlessly migrated and upgraded through simple direct replacement, greatly reducing the cost. Its design cost and development time. At the same time, AG59x has rich interfaces, such as PCIe 3.0, USB 2.0 & 3.1, SDIO, I2S, SPI, I2C, UART, PCM, ADC, (U)SIM, 1PPS, GPIOs, etc., to facilitate customers to carry out various vehicle terminal applications. Technical solution development. This series of products supports both RGMII and SGMII interfaces, which can effectively enhance vehicle Ethernet adaptation capabilities.
For the Quectel AG59x module, Quectel can provide a series of high-performance antenna products to match it. These antennas have supported a variety of automotive mass production projects and can greatly shorten the development cycle of customer products. At the same time, customized designs can also be carried out based on the installation environment of different vehicle models. It is worth mentioning that multiple combination antennas that integrate multiple technologies such as 5G, LTE and GNSS can also provide highly flexible and reliable antenna solutions for vehicle applications.
Quectel AG59x series modules have designed multiple sub-models for different regional markets around the world, and engineering samples will be provided in the first half of 2023.
