According to news on December 22, Funeng Technology recently received a notice from Jiangxi Jiangling Group New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "JMC New Energy") "agreeing to carry out preliminary research on the suitability of sodium-ion batteries for EV3 models." According to the customer's production and sales plan, the sodium ion product model for this application will be put on sale in 2023.

It is reported that Jiangling Group's new energy EV3 model is the pure electric vehicle "Yizhi EV3-Small Radar" currently on the market, with a CLTC cruising range of 301km. This pre-research on adaptability based on currently sold models marks that Funeng Technology’s sodium battery system has entered the stage of performance index quantification and industrialization preparation.

The industry generally believes that the development prospects of sodium batteries are promising. Funeng Technology pointed out in relevant reports that the theoretical cost of cathode materials and current collector materials of sodium batteries is lower than that of lithium batteries. Some industry experts believe that the cost of sodium batteries after mass production will be significantly reduced, compared with the current iron phosphate Lithium batteries have cost advantages. At the same time, the safety, energy density, charge and discharge rate of sodium batteries are equivalent to lithium iron phosphate batteries, and their low-temperature discharge performance is better than that of lithium iron phosphate batteries. They can operate normally in the temperature range of -40°C to 80°C. The capacity retention rate is close to 90% in an environment of -20°C.
