Liwang Electronics and Renesas Electronics have collaborated on TSMC's BCD process to develop a variety of IPs with high integration, small area and low power consumption to meet various applications, especially for power management ICs (PMICs). Now the two parties are more actively cooperating to introduce solutions into the automotive application market. Since automotive application MCUs need to combine low voltage and safety functions, reliable BCD processes and IP solutions have always been market demands. Liwang Electronics' IP is widely deployed in TSMC's BCD technology processes from 0.35μm to 90nm, which can exactly meet the needs of this type of automotive chips .

This full 5V OTP IP on the 130nm BCD Plus process for automotive applications reduces production costs by reducing the number of photomasks. It can also meet the stringent requirements for operation and data retention in high-temperature environments, and can support up to 150 °C high temperature operation and data retention, also qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 0.

"For us, applying 5V BCD to the automotive field is a natural development process. We have many years of experience in PMIC and fully understand the complexity of this technology. From the design to the testing stage, if we want to overcome all difficulties , you need an excellent engineering team, and our cooperation with Renesas Electronics can achieve this. We are very happy to achieve this goal with them," said He Mingzhou, general manager of Liwang Electronics.

Vivek Bhan, senior vice president and deputy general manager of the Automotive Solutions Business Unit at Renesas Electronics, said: "As a supplier of automotive semiconductor products, we must ensure that every component meets the strict performance and reliability requirements of the automotive industry." "We We chose to cooperate with Liwang to provide automotive-grade floating gate non-volatile memory solutions for our PMICs. This design can provide powerful performance, high reliability and excellent test capabilities.”

Liwang Electronics' OTP and MTP, as well as other integrated NVM IP solutions, can now be introduced into various automotive application chips through TSMC's 130nm full 5V BCD Plus process. As Liwang Electronics' logical NVM solutions are adopted by more and more application fields, we also expect to bring a safer and more reliable future to various application industries.
