According to foreign media reports on October 25, in order to overcome the impact of the downturn in the memory chip market on the semiconductor business unit, Samsung Electronics has set its sights on the automotive semiconductor field.



South Korean media said in the latest reports that some analysts expect that Samsung Electronics, which is targeting automotive semiconductors, may build automotive chip factories in Europe, where there are many global automotive manufacturers.


Foreign media reported that at a recent technology forum attended by customers and partners, Samsung Electronics revealed that they will strengthen their automotive semiconductor business.


With the development of electric vehicles and the improvement of automobile intelligence, the demand for semiconductor components is also increasing, and the scale of the automotive semiconductor market is also expanding. Research institutions have stated in reports that the size of the global automotive semiconductor market was US$45 billion last year and is expected to increase to US$74 billion in 2026 and exceed US$100 billion in 2030.


Judging from foreign media reports, Samsung Electronics, which is vigorously developing its wafer foundry business, may build wafer fabs in Europe. Analysts also predict that wafer fabs will be built. Foreign media also stated in reports that Samsung Electronics, which focuses on investing in advanced process technologies of 7nm and below, also plans to invest heavily in mature process technologies for the production of automotive semiconductors and image sensors.
