According to foreign media reports, MORAI, a Korean full-stack autonomous driving car simulation technology developer, announced that it will showcase its realistic autonomous driving car driving simulator MORAI SIM Drive at the 2022 Singapore Communications Exhibition (CommunicAsia 2022).

MORAI builds simulation tools and solutions for autonomous vehicles and autonomous driving systems. MORAI SIM Drive can verify autonomous vehicles and provide the same simulation environment, sensors, and vehicle models as in the real world. With high-definition maps and a high-performance 3D graphics engine (Unity), MORAI SIM Drive automatically builds virtual environments and provides realistic network presentation.
MORAI’s simulation environment features detailed, realistic scenarios, such as complex urban intersections and test tracks, to help customers verify and validate their autonomous vehicles. MORAI’s data-driven simulation approach can be used at every step of the autonomous vehicle development process, from project initiation to testing and acceptance trials.
“At MORAI, we believe simulation is the best solution to achieve full autonomy, and we work hard to ensure that automated driving systems are validated in a safer and more efficient manner,” said Jiwon Jung, CEO of MORAI.
In February 2022, MORAI successfully obtained US$23 million in Series B financing to expand its global influence. This round of financing included new investors Korea Investment Partners, KB Investment and Korea Development Bank (KDB) as well as existing investors Naver's D2 Startup Factory, Hyundai Motor Group's ZERO1NE, Kakao Ventures and Atinum Investment. To date, MORAI has raised a total of US$27 million.
MORAI was co-founded by autonomous driving researchers from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2018. Since then, the company has become the only full-stack autonomous vehicle simulation solution provider in South Korea. MORAI's competitive advantage comes from its technology that automatically converts high-definition map data into digital twins, providing a large-scale simulation environment.
In 2020, MORAI established a US office in the San Francisco Bay Area and plans to further expand its global presence by establishing offices in Germany and Singapore. The company has provided products and solutions to a wide range of customers, including Korean conglomerates, local government agencies, universities, and other simulation partners. MORAI's major customers include Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai AutoEver, Naver Labs, and 42do, as well as research institutions such as KAIST and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority. In addition, the company has established partnerships with companies such as NVIDIA, Ansys, and dSPACE.
