There are many ways to project the navigation system on your car's central control screen. AutoNavi has "Car-to-Car Connectivity"; Baidu has "CarLife+"; Apple has "CarPlay"; Huawei has "HiCar"; Google has "Android Auto"; and the widely supported "MirrorLink". There are so many ways, there is always one that suits you.
1. AutoNavi Cart Internet
This method is a general solution provided by Amap to synchronize the mobile version of Amap and the car version of Amap. To use this function, the following prerequisites must be met.
● One is that the car's central control computer is installed with the AutoNavi car version (V4.80 and above) by default, and the AutoNavi account is logged in.
● The second is to use AutoNavi Maps (V10.65 and above) for navigation on your mobile phone and log in to the same AutoNavi account online.
When these two prerequisites are met and you turn on the AutoNavi navigation on your phone in the car, the AutoNavi navigation operation on your phone will be automatically projected to the AutoNavi navigation on the car computer. Careful netizens will find that since the car computer has navigation, why use the phone to project? The function is too weak, and in fact it is true. The biggest benefit of this function of AutoNavi is not screen projection, but the ability to remotely control the central control screen through the phone. The most convenient way is to use the voice assistant "Xiao De" to control the central control screen, reducing the driver's operation on the central control screen during driving.
2. Baidu Carlife+
This is the Internet of Vehicles solution provided by Baidu. Baidu has cooperated with many car manufacturers to enable many cars to have built-in carlife connection protocols when they leave the factory. If you want to experience CarLife+, you must meet two conditions:
● First, the car computer supports the carlife connection protocol.
● Second, install the mobile version of Baidu Carlife on your phone.
With these two conditions, you can use a data cable or WIFI to connect to the car computer, and then you can project the mobile phone navigation screen to the car computer. After connecting, you can control navigation, music, phone calls and other functions through your mobile phone.
This method looks good, but it is not as easy to use as expected, at least compared to Apple CarPlay. There are several limitations: First, it only projects its own CarLife, and is not even compatible with Baidu Maps, let alone other companies. Second, its function is relatively simple and cannot project all applications on the phone. Many web pages also complain that it is useless, but users with low requirements can try it.
3. Apple CarPlay
This method is Apple's car networking solution. Compared with Baidu CarLife, I personally feel that it is much easier to use. There are also two prerequisites for using it:
● First, the car computer must have the CarPlay connection protocol.
● The second is that you must have an Apple phone. With these two conditions;
With these conditions, you can connect your phone and car through a wired or WIFI network. After connecting, you can also use your iPhone to control navigation, music, calls, messages, and some of the mobile phone APP functions it supports. Here you can see that it supports some APPs compared to Baidu carlife, but the support is also very limited. When you encounter an APP you want to use but cannot be projected through CarPlay, you will also feel very frustrated.
4. Huawei HiCar
Huawei HiCar is a rising star and is Huawei's car networking solution. However, Huawei's dream is to connect all Huawei terminals through the Hongmeng system, which is the most forward-looking dream in the era of the Internet of Things. If you want to use Huawei HiCar, there are also two prerequisites:
● First, the car needs to support Huawei's HiCar protocol, and currently new energy vehicles are more supported.
● Second, you need a mobile phone that supports Huawei HiCar. Most mobile phones supported by Hongmeng system support it.
When all the prerequisites are met, you can also connect your phone and the car computer via wired or WIFI when you get in the car. After the connection is successful, your phone not only simply realizes screen projection with the car computer, but also achieves a deep connection at the hardware level. The mobile phone can call the car's camera and GPS sensor to enhance the intelligent experience of the driving process. From this point of view, Huawei HiCar is indeed a very avant-garde Internet of Vehicles solution, and I believe that netizens who have used it will like it. I hope Huawei can do better and better and realize a truly smart cockpit!
5. Google Android Auto
This method is comparable to Apple's CarPlay abroad. It has the strong support of Google's Android ecosystem and is even better than CarPlay in some aspects. However, in China, due to reasons that everyone knows, it has become useless. The main reason is not that Google has withdrawn from China, but that the Google Service Framework (GMS) is basically unusable in domestic Android phones. If domestic users want to experience it, you must meet three conditions.
● First, if you own an imported car, the car computer may have Android Auto.
● Second, you must have an Android phone with GMS installed.
● Third, you have to connect Google Apps to your network.
If you don’t have these conditions, don’t even think about trying this method.
6. MirrorLink interconnection
This method was initiated by the Global Connected Car Alliance. It is based on current mature non-proprietary standards, such as USB, Wi-Fi, UPnP, VNC, Mirocast, BlueTooth, RTP, IP and other protocols to achieve vehicle-machine interconnection. It is a global open vehicle-connected protocol and a relatively common solution. There are two prerequisites for experiencing this function:
● First, the mobile phone must support MirrorLink. Many mobile phones from domestic manufacturers do not support this.
● Second, the car's head unit must support the MirrorLink protocol, which is generally supported by joint venture car brands;
Although this protocol is relatively open, to truly support MirrorLink, in addition to the need to improve the mobile phone system, more applications need to be re-adapted. Due to the large number of mobile phone brands, the task of adapting applications to MirrorLink is also arduous. In the end, this most universal solution has the worst compatibility. Few people use it in China.
Summarize
In fact, projecting the mobile phone navigation on the car screen is just a basic function of the car networking solution. The six methods introduced above are just the commonly used methods. With the continuous development of car networking technology, more and more excellent car networking solutions will be launched in the future. It will also become easier and easier to project the mobile phone screen on the car.
