Recently, Netcom learned from overseas media carscoops that Magna has launched the EtelligentForce electric powertrain for pickups and trucks. The system can be installed in existing fuel vehicles. It uses Magna's eBeam electric axle drive system to replace the traditional beam axle used in pickups. Importantly, the system can be installed without overhauling the standard suspension and braking system.

It’s worth noting that Magna recently launched the system in Canada with a GMC Sierra 2500HD that was converted to all-electric. According to Magna CEO Swamy Kotagiri, “the company is now marketing the system to automakers, promising to provide a cheaper alternative to the new platforms and architectures currently being developed for many of their upcoming electric trucks.”

Currently, companies such as Ford and General Motors are developing electric trucks, but Magna Powertrain may be the most ideal solution. The system has a maximum power of 170kW and a peak torque of 3,770N·m for the front motor, and a maximum power of 250kW and a peak torque of 10,000N·m for the rear motor.
