Industry's highest rated current in 3225 size *

Achieves high impedance over wide bandwidth, supports -55°C~+155°C operating temperature range

AEC-Q200 compliant

October 26, 2021

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) has developed the ADL3225VM inductor for automotive PoC systems. Measuring 3.2mm (length) x 2.5mm (width) x 2.5mm (height), the inductor provides a compact solution for designers looking to reduce vehicle weight as manufacturers add more sensors and cameras to accommodate expanding automotive and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) applications. Proprietary structural design and winding manufacturing processes ensure high impedance over a wide bandwidth of 1 MHz to 1 GHz. The inductor is AEC-Q200 compliant, achieves the industry's highest rated current in a 3225 size, and has begun mass production in October 2021.

The performance improvement of ADAS applications has led to an increase in the production of electronic control units (ECUs), especially around visual cameras and front-sensing cameras, which has increased the demand for high-speed interfaces. Low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) with a transmission rate of up to 1.5 Gbit/s transmits image signals from automotive cameras to control circuit boards. This process involves a PoC system that passes data and power through the same coaxial cable. TDK's ADL3225VM inductor acts as a blocking coil to separate the ringing current from the power supply and increase the current provided by the PoC system. The inductor supports an operating temperature range of -55°C~+155°C.

In the future, TDK will further expand this product portfolio to meet the needs of a wider range of automotive applications for higher speed and larger capacity transmissions.
