On November 4, 2021, WPG Holdings , a leading semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market , announced that its subsidiary Pinjia has launched a low-cost automotive lighting general-purpose microcontroller solution based on the Infineon CK8CKIT-044 evaluation board.

Nowadays, cars have become an indispensable means of transportation in people's lives, and their safety issues have also received great attention from the society. Among all the components of a car, the importance of taillights to car safety is self-evident, and its existence has greatly reduced the occurrence of traffic accidents. Therefore, how to design the various functions of taillights to maximize their value is an urgent problem that major manufacturers need to solve. With the development of technology, today's car taillights not only have a varied appearance, but also have greatly improved their functions, and this is mainly due to the design of the taillight control circuit. The low-cost automotive lighting general-purpose microcontroller solution launched by WPG based on Infineon has ultra-high scalability and can achieve flexible taillight control design.

The core of this solution is the PSoC4200M chip, which is based on the Cypress PSoC4 platform design and is a highly scalable and reconfigurable platform architecture. It has a built-in Cortex-M0 core, combined with a microcontroller and programmable digital logic, high-performance analog-to-digital conversion, operational amplifiers with comparator mode, and standard communication and timing peripherals, and complies with AEC-Q100 certification, ensuring the flexibility of the solution application design and field adjustment capabilities.

In addition, this solution also provides an Arduino interface, a 6-pin Digilent PMOD module, two CapSense proximity connectors and a CapSense gesture board, and integrates an ambient light sensor, a 3-axis accelerometer, a PWM temperature sensor, an RGB LED, a push button switch, an onboard programmer/debugger, a USB-UART/I2C bridge function module and a Cypress F-RAM, etc. It supports 3.3V or 5V operating voltage to meet design requirements.

Eight programmable 16-bit timer/counters/pulse width modulators (PWM);
Four serial communication blocks (SCBs) configurable as I2C master or slave, SPI master or slave, or UART;
Two CAN channels.

The operating voltage is 3.3V or 5V;
With Arduino interface & 6 pin Digilent PMOD module;
Two CapSense proximity headers & one CapSense gesture board;
Ambient light sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, PWM temperature sensor.
