According to foreign media reports, indie Semiconductor, a developer of automotive semiconductors and software platforms, recently released a series of highly integrated and flexible solutions that can optimize the next generation of automotive interior lighting applications. Specifically, indie's smart LED devices combine 32-bit general-purpose microcontrollers with the hardware and software programming necessary to deploy interior lighting systems in various configurations.

From exterior styling to how drivers perceive interior lighting, intelligent lighting is changing the way vehicles are designed, marketed and differentiated. Compared to traditional incandescent lamps, new LED platforms produce the same light intensity but use significantly less energy, giving automotive OEMs more options when deciding where to position lighting inside, in the front and at the rear of the vehicle. In addition to improving energy efficiency and exterior design, LED technology also supports adaptive front lighting systems (AFS), which reduce driver fatigue and improve safety in challenging environments.

“As LED lighting quickly becomes an important factor in the automotive user experience, automakers are deploying more sophisticated solutions to make their brands more competitive,” said Michael Wittmann, vice president of marketing at indie. “Indie’s portfolio of smart LED controllers delivers outstanding performance, power efficiency, and a cost-optimized architecture.”

indie's product portfolio includes the integrated step-down 24-way RGB (W) LED driver series iND83204-CSXX, the 24-way RGB (W) LED driver series iND83210, and the 3-way RGB LED driver series iND832XX. All products are designed to meet AEC-Q100 automotive requirements and are produced in IATF16949 certified production facilities.
