According to foreign media reports, Detroit technology company Traxen has launched an intelligent adaptive cruise control system iQ-Cruise, which is dedicated to traditional electric commercial vehicles and is also suitable for commercial vehicle aftermarket customers and OEM customers.

The company said iQ-Cruise uses artificial intelligence (AI), advanced algorithms and sensors to reduce fuel consumption by an average of 10% while improving safety, vehicle operation rates and profit margins.
As the world moves towards self-driving cars, Traxen knows that it is not possible to achieve driverless driving immediately, so it chooses to start with controlling the speed of the car and gradually solve the problem of autonomous driving. iQ-Cruise uses proprietary hardware and software to monitor road conditions such as elevation changes, road curvature, traffic patterns and weather conditions several miles beyond the driver's field of vision.
In addition, the technology also takes into account the driver's service time and arrival time needs. Because iQ-Cruise can intuitively and effectively control the speed of the vehicle based on various factors, the driver is mainly responsible for driving operations, which helps reduce driver errors, fatigue and rollovers. In addition, the driver can stay in driving status and master driving information through non-intrusive alerts through Traxen's driver-friendly interface.
In August 2020, Traxen conducted its first side-by-side off-road driving test on roads between Plymouth, Michigan and Las Vegas, where the iQ-Cruise system was more energy-efficient in controlling vehicle speed, far outperforming experienced truck drivers.
Traxen has continued to train and improve the performance of its AI iQ-Cruise. In its latest version, iQ-Cruise improves the vehicle's fuel efficiency by 10%. Based on a systematic study of 700 million miles of data from customer driving, the company predicts that iQ-Cruise will improve fuel efficiency by 15% by 2023.
In addition to delivering value through fuel cost savings and increased driver satisfaction, the system’s advanced capabilities can also reduce costs resulting from brake and tire wear, vehicle maintenance, insurance and training.
Traxen’s energy-saving solutions are currently being piloted by several fleet customers and will be available to commercial vehicle aftermarket customers in the first quarter of 2021 and to truck OEMs thereafter.
