This is the first ISO 26262:2018 certificate issued by SGS TÜV in the domestic semiconductor field, which indicates that Horizon Robotics has established a complete product development process system that meets the highest level of automotive functional safety, ASIL D, in accordance with the ISO 26262:2018 standard. Horizon Robotics has also become the first Chinese AI chip company to obtain ISO 26262 functional safety process certification.

ISO 26262 is a globally recognized automotive functional safety standard, developed by the International Organization for Standardization in 2011, and the latest version was officially released in December 2018. The standard evaluates the entire life cycle of the product, covering functional safety requirements planning, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation and configuration, and aims to minimize the risk of automotive electrical or electronic system failures through a sound development process. It is one of the entry barriers for global electronic component suppliers to enter the automotive industry. Horizon has passed the ISO 26262 ASIL D-level functional safety process certification, which is the highest safety level in the certification system.

As the first technology company in China to achieve mass production of automotive-grade AI chips, Horizon Robotics has formed a team with functional safety awareness, mastered functional safety development methods, possessed functional safety development capabilities and industry technology foresight through the practice of functional safety development of AI chips, laying a solid foundation for the continuous improvement of product functional safety.

Acquiring the functional safety process certification is not a goal, but a new starting point. Under the protection of ISO 26262 functional safety management certification, Horizon Robotics' new generation of high-level autonomous driving chip Journey 5 is based on the functional safety development process and built in accordance with ASIL B(D). The application meets the highest safety level ASIL D requirements in the automotive industry, which will help the intelligent driving industry enter the fast lane more safely.

After the certification ceremony, Zheng Wei, assistant to the president of SGS China, and Zhang Yufeng, vice president of Horizon and general manager of the intelligent driving product line, signed a strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of the two companies. The two parties will work closely in the fields of ISO 26262 and semiconductor reliability testing, which will also promote the strategic development and practice of functional safety in the entire semiconductor industry.
