Vitesco Technologies, a leading company in powertrain technology and electrification solutions, has begun to market its highly integrated electric axle drive system (EMR3) for Dongfeng Passenger Vehicles. For Vitesco Technologies, this is the second time that it has been sought after by Chinese local automakers after Vitesco Technologies put EMR3 products into production for PSA Peugeot Citroen and Hyundai Motor at the end of 2019. The mass production of EMR3 for Dongfeng Passenger Vehicles marks another great success for Vitesco Technologies in the market, which is of milestone significance.
Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle will use the EMR3 product in its new, all-electric version of the Yixuan model. This compact A-class car weighing about 1.5 tons has a top speed of 155 km/h and a range of about 400 km under NEDC conditions. This compact and lightweight device provided to Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle integrates a powerful motor and highly optimized power electronics.

"We are very grateful to Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle for its high trust in Vitesco Technologies. Our innovative technology and our accumulation in China have been highly recognized by local customers. Based on Vitesco Technologies' outstanding level in the field of electrification, we have once again become a recognized business partner in the industry." said Thomas Stierle, Executive Vice President of Vitesco Technologies' New Energy Technology Business Unit.
China is currently the world's largest and fastest-growing electric vehicle market. Vitesco Technologies' production of highly integrated electric axle drive systems in China makes it easier for it to get closer to and respond to its OEM customers. The highly automated production line at the Tianjin plant has the ability to mass produce according to the highest quality standards and has accumulated rich practical experience in the field of electric drive technology. EMR3 product development was jointly completed by Vitesco Technologies' bases in Berlin and Nuremberg, Germany, and Shanghai and Tianjin, China.

"Our decision to use the EMR3 axle drive system provided by Vitesco Technologies is a new era of win-win cooperation. Through the close cooperation between the two parties, we will be able to better serve the mass market of electric passenger vehicles in China and further fulfill the mission of clean transportation in the Chinese automobile market." said Wan Liangyu, Director of Purchasing Department of Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle.
EMR3 is synonymous with high power density, light weight and easy integration
Since the first mass production in 2011, Vitesco Technologies has accumulated nearly ten years of rich experience in electric drive manufacturing. The new generation of highly integrated electric shaft drive system fully demonstrates its unique appeal in terms of power: the Dongfeng Yixuan EV equipped with EMR3 has a maximum power of 120 kilowatts and an output torque of up to 260 Nm, while the EMR3 itself weighs less than 80 kilograms. This highly compact and well-proven shaft drive system is the best choice for electric vehicles .
"The EMR3 product is almost tailor-made for the mass market of electric vehicles. It meets the various requirements of new energy vehicles for small and lightweight components, reduced cable complexity, and driving pleasure," said Gregoire Cuny, President of Vitesco Technologies China. "Based on years of continuous development and continuous optimization in the field of electrification, this integrated electric axle drive system has become a highly innovative and mature technology, which further reduces the cost of electric vehicles and makes them more affordable."
In December 2019, at the 12th International Automotive Technology Annual Conference and Automotive Innovation Technology Awards Ceremony jointly initiated by Germany's Vogel Automotive Media Group AI "Automotive Manufacturing" and the School of Automotive Engineering of Aachen University of Technology in Germany, the highly integrated electric axle drive system selected by Vitesco Technologies won the "Automotive Technology Innovation Award".
Vitesco Technologies focuses on electrification
Vitesco Technologies is one of the few automotive system suppliers capable of independently providing a full range of electrification system solutions. The company's products include 48-volt electrification technology and key components for hybrid and pure electric drive systems.
