Recently, BMW's new patent information was obtained from the State Intellectual Property Office. This patent is a function that detects odor characteristics to obtain the driver's psychological state.

According to the patent application, odor sensors are placed on the seats, backrests, headrests or vehicle ceilings to detect odor substances released by the human body into the ambient air and the odor characteristics of the internal environment. Changes in odor characteristics are identified based on the recorded odor characteristics and associated with changes in the user's psychological state. When the user's psychological state changes, such as fatigue, the system will activate massage or other auxiliary functions to improve the user's driving state.
