In daily life, we often see electric vehicles charging on charging piles , but rarely discharge electricity to charging piles. However, recently, Tianjin launched a new charging pile, which allows electric vehicles to discharge electricity to the power grid connected to the charging pile, and the car owner can also earn a certain amount of electricity peak and valley price difference.

It is reported that these new charging piles are located in the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City and are jointly built by China and Singapore. They can turn the owner's electric car into a huge "power bank", charging and storing energy during the low electricity consumption period, and discharging to the power grid during the peak electricity consumption period, which can reduce the power supply pressure of the local power grid while the owner can also earn the difference in electricity charges.

In terms of the owner's income, according to the Tianjin electricity price list, the difference between the peak/peak and valley prices of industrial electricity is generally 0.5-0.7 yuan/kWh. Taking the long-range version of Tesla Model 3 as an example, its battery capacity is 75kWh, and under ideal conditions, the owner can earn 37.5-52.5 yuan per day in grid price difference income.

However, this is under ideal conditions, when the discharge power and discharge time are close to the maximum. This situation may not occur in actual situations. Even if the profit is 50% off, you can still earn at least 25 yuan a day.

However, from a personal perspective, given that the battery, the most important component of electric vehicles, undergoes high-power charging and discharging operations every day, there are probably few car owners who would be so pessimistic as to complain about the long life of their vehicle's battery.

Although this technology may not be widely popularized at this stage, it is technically feasible. Because the power grid does not have the energy storage function, a large amount of electricity is wasted every day because it cannot be used in time, so there are differences in electricity charges between peak and valley.

If the huge batteries of electric vehicles can be connected to the power grid as energy storage devices, it will be able to save a huge amount of energy for the country. It is foreseeable that as power battery manufacturers enter this field in the future, it is not impossible for electric vehicles to charge and discharge the power grid and for car owners to earn profits.
