Qorvo® (Nasdaq: QRVO), a leading provider of innovative RF solutions for mobile, infrastructure and aerospace and defense applications, today introduced the ACT4751M, a power management integrated circuit ( PMIC ) that further expands the company's portfolio of in-vehicle charging solutions for fast charging of mobile phones, tablets and laptops. The Qorvo ACT4751M is the industry's first AEC-Q100-certified step-down and regulator IC specifically designed for USB Type-C® fast charging applications.
"The proliferation of connected car devices and the proliferation of advanced in-car infotainment systems require more ports and higher power supplies," said David Briggs, senior director of Qorvo's Programmable Power Management business unit. "Qorvo's AEC-Q100 qualified ACT4751M power IC is a unique, easy-to-use step-down product that is the smallest and most powerful on the market."
The ACT4751M meets all power requirements for USB fast charging applications, including the Power Delivery 3.0 Programmable Power Supply (USB PD 3.0 PPS) specification. Unlike competing converter products, it integrates both power and analog functions in a single power IC. When combined with a power delivery controller, this solution creates a complete USB fast charging solution, shortening development time and reducing BOM costs.
The standalone step-down ACT4751M operates up to 40V with protection against load dump events up to 48V in harsh automotive environments. Buck chargers provide protection between the power source and the device to accommodate the difference between the voltage source and the battery being charged. Type-C® is a universal port capable of delivering high power. These chargers are becoming increasingly popular as more applications adopt USB Type-C® ports.
AEC-Q100 is an industry standard specification established by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC). In addition to AEC-Q100 certification, the ACT4751M also meets the automotive EMI standard CISPR 25 Class 3 and patented DC-DC conversion technology requirements.
Qorvo's portfolio of automotive power management products accelerates certified designs and reduces time to market by providing multiple USB fast charger and Qualcomm® Quick Charge 3.0™, Quick Charge 4™ and Quick Charge 4+™ certified reference designs that are fully optimized to minimize size while maximizing power conversion efficiency.
We can now provide you with ACT4751M samples, the specifications are as follows:
