In-vehicle AI chips are the Mount Everest of the artificial intelligence industry and a prerequisite for the large-scale implementation of autonomous driving .
Recently, Horizon Robotics, an artificial intelligence chip company, announced that it will release a new generation version of the Matrix autonomous driving computing platform at the 2020 CES in the United States. It will also showcase China's first automotive-grade AI chip Journey 2 and a series of smart driving results.
It is reported that this automotive-grade AI chip is equipped with Horizon's self-developed high-performance computing architecture BPU2.0 (Brain Processing Unit), which can provide an equivalent computing power of more than 4 TOPS (trillion times per second) with a typical power consumption of 2 watts.
At the same time, the Journey 2 can flexibly implement multiple types of AI task processing, perform real-time detection and accurate identification of multiple types of targets, meet the needs of intelligent driving scenarios such as autonomous driving visual perception, visual mapping and positioning, visual ADAS, as well as functional requirements of intelligent human-computer interaction such as voice recognition , eye tracking, and gesture recognition.
Officials said that compared with the previous generation of Matrix, the upcoming new generation of Matrix will be built on the second generation of Journey chip. Its computing power is increased by 16 times, while the power consumption is only 2/3 of the original. It can also support up to 8 million pixel video input, pedestrian detection distance up to 100 meters, and meet the perception and computing needs of autonomous driving fleets and unmanned low-speed vehicles in multiple countries and different scenarios.
In addition, at CES 2020, Horizon will also showcase multiple cooperative implementation solutions including ADAS, autonomous driving, crowdsourced high-precision maps, in-vehicle multi-mode interaction, etc., enabled by the Journey 2.
