Windshield wipers are a must-have for cars, whether it is raining or snowing, their role cannot be underestimated. However, traditional windshield wipers often have some unpleasant experiences during use, such as abnormal noises from the wipers, aging and damage of the rubber strips, etc. Traditional wipers also cause glass water to erode the sealing strips around the windshield. Recently, two important technical patents of Tesla, a pioneer in electric vehicles, are likely to overturn the dominance of traditional wipers. They are "laser pulse cleaning" technology and "electromagnetic wipers".
Laser pulse cleaning technology
Laser pulse cleaning technology has a very high technological content. Its working principle is to use the energy of laser to clean the watermarks, insects and even bird droppings on the windshield, which are difficult to clean. The working process is to use 2-3 laser transmitters to emit high-frequency pulse lasers. Like the scanning process of a printer, the high-frequency pulse laser scans the windshield one by one, covering the entire windshield.
Tesla also said that the technology can automatically identify the location and size of dirt through the processor, thereby increasing or decreasing the frequency of the laser to achieve the purpose of removing dirt. From the working process, it is not difficult to see that the laser pulse cleaning technology can completely do without a scraper to complete the work content, so this technology can be said to completely subvert the traditional wiper technology. At the same time, Tesla also said that this technology can also be used in the cleaning of surveillance cameras, solar panels or photovoltaic power generation equipment and instruments to improve the efficiency of cleaning work.
Electromagnetic wipers
In addition to laser cleaning technology, Tesla has another technical patent called "electromagnetic wipers". The biggest difference between electromagnetic wipers and traditional wipers is the different transmission mechanism. Traditional wipers use electric motors and rocker arms to achieve the swinging and water-hanging operation of the wiper. Therefore, many traditional wipers cannot completely clean the front windshield, and there will be some so-called "blind spots" that cannot be taken care of. But electromagnetic wipers do not have to worry about this at all.
Electromagnetic wipers use a track that generates an electromagnetic field to move the wiper blades from left to right to cover the entire windshield. Because electromagnetic wipers move horizontally in the track instead of swinging like traditional wipers, electromagnetic wipers have a wider cleaning range and are more convenient to use.

The improvement of science and technology can bring designers more thinking space, more application materials and structures. Therefore, the invention of laser pulse cleaning technology and electromagnetic wipers can be said to subvert traditional wipers, but it may take some time for them to be put on the market for mass production and experimental demonstration. Once put on the market, consumers will really no longer need to replace windshield washer fluid and wiper rubber strips.
