Innovative semiconductor devices and system solutions address the growing number of emerging applications supporting electric vehicles, ADAS and autonomous vehicles
ON Semiconductor, driving energy-efficient innovations, will showcase solutions and technologies for automotive electronics, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automotive lighting and body electronics at the 13th Shanghai International Energy-Saving and New Energy Vehicle Industry Expo (EV China 2019) held in Shanghai from July 3 to 5.
The automotive industry is rapidly moving towards the adoption of pure electric vehicles (EVs) and the adoption of sophisticated ADAS that will ultimately enable fully autonomous vehicles. ON Semiconductor is at the forefront of technology in this area, continuously developing and launching devices and integrated system solutions to enable high-performance electronic components throughout the vehicle that are rugged, reliable and fully compliant with the latest automotive standards.
ON Semiconductor will be demonstrating at its booth, giving visitors an in-depth understanding and a glimpse into the possibilities of these demonstrations. In the field of automotive electronic functions, ON Semiconductor will showcase its automotive-qualified devices for traction inverters to convert DC battery voltage to AC, including the recently launched AFGHL50T65SQDC 650 V, 50 A hybrid IGBT and silicon carbide Schottky barrier diode (SiC-SBD) technology, which provides optimal performance for automotive hard switching applications.
In addition, ON Semiconductor will showcase its wide bandgap (WBG) technology, demonstrating 650 V SiC Schottky diode wafers and 1200 V, 80 mΩ SiC MOSFET wafers. AEC-Q 101 automotive-qualified SiC diodes and SiC MOSFETs bring wide-bandgap technology enabling and extensive performance advantages to important high-growth terminal applications such as automotive DC-DC and electric vehicle on-board charger applications. SiC devices combine high power density and high energy efficiency, occupy a smaller space, and can significantly reduce the size and cost of the entire system.
ON Semiconductor will also showcase its LiDAR and image sensing technologies that support autonomous driving, which can complement each other for precision ADAS and autonomous driving solutions.
Other demonstrations will provide visitors with a clear understanding of ON Semiconductor's solutions for electric vehicle charging piles, advanced LED lighting and body electronics applications such as positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heating, parking assistance and quiet operating cooling fans for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and EVs.
