1 Further improve the energy efficiency of automobiles
In this era when all mankind is talking about new energy, car networking and autonomous driving, Bosch, as the world's number one supplier of automotive parts and systems, obviously has rich scientific research experience and technical reserves. Therefore, at the international media exchange meeting held at Bosch's Boxberg test site in Germany, we saw Bosch's efforts and achievements in automotive electrification, interconnection and automation. ● Electrification: Further improving vehicle energy efficiency
Today, the power unit of a car is no longer limited to gasoline and diesel engines. Hybrid systems and electric motors are becoming more and more familiar and accepted by people. However, in Bosch's view, today's internal combustion engines still have their own advantages and potential, and will continue to serve as the basis for efficient transportation in the future. So far, Bosch has provided millions of gasoline/diesel direct injection systems to the world, and has also made a lot of contributions in the field of hybrid/pure electric technology. In addition, the new start-stop technology based on the traditional internal combustion engine architecture and CNG dual-fuel technology will also bring the vehicle's fuel consumption and cruising range to a new level.
- Coasting start-stop technology
The existing start-stop system can only shut down the engine when the vehicle comes to a complete stop, while the coasting start-stop system can shut down the engine when the vehicle is coasting (such as going downhill at high speed). At the same time, in automatic transmission models, the system can automatically control the clutch to separate the engine from the transmission system to extend the coasting distance. When the driver operates the accelerator or brake pedal during coasting, the engine will start quickly. Although the existing engine control system can stop the engine from spraying fuel when the vehicle is coasting with gear, the coasting distance is not long because the engine and transmission system are not separated; and when coasting in neutral, the engine will still spray fuel, and although it can coast for a long distance, it cannot achieve the purpose of saving fuel. Therefore, the coasting start-stop system can combine the advantages of these two working conditions, achieving the purpose of saving fuel by shutting down the engine, while allowing the vehicle to coast for a longer distance.
- Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Dual Fuel Technology
In many areas of my country, taxis that use natural gas as fuel can be seen, and even private car owners in some cities will choose to make relevant modifications in the aftermarket. Although these modified natural gas fuel models are not as good as before in terms of trunk space, power performance and safety, the fundamental reason why these car owners finally choose to compromise is the low cost of use. In addition, natural gas is also more advantageous than gasoline in terms of emissions. Therefore, Bosch and Audi jointly developed the g-tron dual-fuel system, the purpose of which is to allow consumers to enjoy the economy of CNG models while ensuring higher safety without sacrificing practicality. This g-tron dual-fuel system can reduce the fuel cost of European consumers by at least 50%, and in the domestic market, if the vehicle price is only slightly increased, I believe that many car owners who pursue economy will choose dual-fuel technology.
When various electric/hybrid models are popular and alternative energy technologies such as fuel cells are about to come, many people have asserted that the traditional internal combustion engine will be gone, but Bosch does not think so. As one of the originators of fuel injection technology, Bosch insists today that the internal combustion engine is still the basis of efficient transportation, and more new electrification technologies will further explore the energy-saving potential of the internal combustion engine. - Predictive Hybrid Powertrain
At present, the control unit in the hybrid system can only automatically switch between pure electric, hybrid and charging modes according to different vehicle operating conditions. However, sometimes we prefer to use the power in the battery pack of hybrid vehicles in congested urban areas, slow-moving roads caused by accidents or road repairs, and roads with low speed limits. If the battery is insufficient when the vehicle reaches these roads, it will not achieve the ideal fuel-saving effect. The predictive hybrid system can receive road condition information from the network, predict the appearance of these roads in advance, and start the charging mode, so that sufficient power is prepared before these vehicles enter these roads, so as to achieve more efficient driving.
- Wrong way warning system
According to a Bosch report, about 2,000 traffic accidents are caused by drivers entering the wrong road (reverse or prohibited) every year, so the original intention of the wrong-way warning system is to reduce the probability of such accidents. The system uses the on-board camera and Bosch electronic horizon integrated road information system, or GPS and cloud computing to determine whether the road ahead of the vehicle is correct. When the vehicle is in the wrong lane, the system will alarm and send warning information to other road users through the network to avoid accidents.

According to the definition and classification of autonomous driving technology by the German Federal Institute of Transport Research (BAST), vehicle autonomous driving technology is divided into four stages: 1. Driver assistance system; 2. Partial autonomous driving; 3. Highly autonomous driving; 4. Fully autonomous driving. The highly autonomous driving system demonstrated this time indicates that technology is no longer a barrier and obstacle to achieving autonomous driving, and Bosch already has all the technical conditions required for autonomous driving.
- Redundancy solution for autonomous driving system
When it comes to autonomous driving, many people worry about how the vehicle will ensure the safety of the passengers if the system fails and the driver cannot take over. In this regard, Bosch has adopted a method in which ESP, EPS (electronic power steering) and intelligent brake booster iBooster are backed up and redundant with each other. In an emergency, the vehicle can be stopped in complex road conditions to avoid or reduce accident losses.
Currently, driver assistance systems and phase sensor products are Bosch's fastest growing business segments and are seen as the basis for advancement to fully autonomous driving. However, autonomous driving currently faces some challenges, such as restrictions on policies and regulations, as well as consumer concerns about the safety of this technology. As vehicle connectivity becomes more and more in-depth, system suppliers such as Bosch not only need to solve problems with system operational safety (safety), but also need to foresee and maintain system network security (security). In addition, due to the very high international safety standards for autonomous driving technology, only one system failure is allowed within 10 to the eighth power - 10 to the ninth power hours.
