LEXINGTON, Mass., Aug. 21, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- CAMX Power LLC (CAMX) and Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd. (Panasonic Energy), a Panasonic Group company, announced that Panasonic Energy has licensed CAMX's lithium-ion battery cathode active materials for its newest GEMX® platform.
CAMX has established the GEMX® platform based on its core inventions and has now obtained more than 30 patents in countries and regions around the world, including the United States, the European Union, South Korea, Japan and China. With the help of molecular engineering technology, GEMX has successfully positioned elements such as cobalt and aluminum in key positions of positive electrode particles, which not only reduces the use of cobalt, but also greatly improves the stability and performance of positive electrode materials and reduces costs; this method is applicable to all types of nickel-based positive electrode materials, including high manganese. Its derivative products have been named gNMC®, gNMCA®, gNCA® and gLNO®.
“Rather than attempting to manufacture our own products, CAMX is using licensing agreements like this to bring our inventions to market faster and more broadly, benefiting society,” Sahin continued.

"Battery cells account for one-third of the cost of electric vehicles, and cathode materials account for half of the cost of battery cells.
