In the summer of 2019, Hangzhou experienced continuous high temperatures, and the peak load of the power grid hit new highs, breaking through 15 million kilowatts and 16 million kilowatts successively. In the face of high temperatures and high loads, the Hangzhou power grid has always maintained safe, stable and reliable power supply.

A year ago, Hangzhou Power Supply Company completed the prediction of 16.5 million kilowatts of load extremes, and promoted the construction of strong power grids and reliable intelligent distribution networks at large receiving ends according to the same power supply capacity standards. In one year, Hangzhou Power Supply Company rapidly promoted the construction of power grids from the eastern wetland plains to the top of the southwestern mountains, put into operation 9.29 million kilovolt-ampere transformer capacity, built 356 kilometers of transmission lines, laid out the first 500 kV substation in the urban area, and built the first 220 kV power integrated pipeline corridor that passes through the city center. The world-class distribution network extends from cities to rural areas, and the strong power grid creates conditions for power supply under extreme conditions.

Hangzhou Power Supply Company has steadily promoted information-based infrastructure, comprehensively applied in-depth modeling of preliminary designs and three-dimensional design of power grids, piloted the application of standardized assembly, and precisely controlled every aspect of power grid technology to ensure that infrastructure projects passed the test before being put into production and were accepted as high-quality products.

In 2019, Hangzhou Power Supply Company seized the opportunity of building a ubiquitous power Internet of Things and took the lead in building an enterprise-level key application "Online Power Grid" comprehensive demonstration project, connecting 22 professional systems, entering more than 56 billion data into the cloud, and integrating power grids, maps and other elements, taking the lead in realizing "one map for the power grid, one source for data, and one line for business."

"By applying the concepts and technologies of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things, we have moved the real power grid to the Internet, realizing the integration of business integration, data analysis, and planning and decision-making functions," said Ye Gangjin, deputy chief engineer of Hangzhou Power Supply Company.

Supported by the big data of "Online Power Grid", Hangzhou Power Supply Company has completed 23 typical applications, including the optimization of the route of the Zhejiang section of the ±800 kV Baihetan project and the precise timing planning of the 220 kV transmission and transformation project. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, "Online Power Grid" is expected to achieve the optimization of 470 million yuan of main network investment and 499 million yuan of distribution network investment, saving nearly 36 million yuan in labor costs annually.

On October 25, 2019, at the 6th Global Grid Foresight Technology Seminar held in Campinas, Brazil, Dr. Zheng Weiyan of Hangzhou Power Supply Company introduced the world's first AI dispatching virtual agent "Pachi" developed by the company to power experts from various countries in English.
