On December 16, 2019, Jiang Shengrong, deputy general manager of Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., sent a banner and a letter of thanks to the Zhangjiang Science City Energy Service Center of Pudong Power Supply Company: "I didn't expect the Zhangjiang Central District Temporary Energy Station to be able to supply power so quickly. Thank you so much!" This project is difficult and involves many processes. According to conventional procedures, it would take at least 70 days to complete power supply. In reality, it took only 51 days from application to power supply.

Zhangjiang Science City is the core area for Shanghai to build a global science and innovation center. Zhangjiang Science City Energy Service Center is the first energy service center approved by State Grid Corporation of China. Since its establishment in August 2018, the center has been exploring the "Zhangjiang model" of ubiquitous power Internet of Things construction and application from the aspects of organizational structure, management innovation, platform transformation, etc., to create an urban energy Internet ecosystem and meet the needs of the energy service market.

“General Practitioners” Break Professional Barriers

Continuously promoting business quality and efficiency is the advantage and feature of the "Zhangjiang Model", and organizational optimization and ubiquitous power IoT equipment application are key links. Zhangjiang Science City Energy Service Center has optimized and reorganized the traditional 21 types of positions into 8 categories, integrating personnel from various professional backgrounds to form an agile team that can "quickly and quickly" solve the vast majority of customer needs and cultivate "general practitioners" to serve customers. The "general practitioner" model avoids professional barriers caused by cross-departmental work in daily work, reduces the communication costs between different professions, and provides customers with more comprehensive and accurate energy solutions.

What has accelerated the development of Zhangjiang Ubiquitous Power Internet of Things Pilot Zone is not only the streamlining and optimization of the organizational structure, but also the application of the "smart brain" - the digital mirror evaluation system.

In the 35 kV Cai Lun substation that is undergoing a pilot transformation, the digital mirror evaluation system can collect data through the front-end sensing network, conduct full-dimensional, all-weather monitoring of the grid operation, equipment operation status, appearance status, etc., and combine real-time status perception data and massive historical data to diagnose the health status of equipment online, actively push equipment abnormality alarms and differentiated maintenance strategies, allowing the equipment to "speak" and the substation to "think".

Energy management with “Energy Brain” is clear at a glance

Zhangjiang Science City Energy Service Center innovates its business model and applies the smart city energy cloud platform to serve four types of users: government, energy companies, energy customers, and energy service markets. It comprehensively expands the six major functions of energy monitoring, analysis, management, trading, services, and applications, and creates an "integrated smart city energy brain" to create a smart city energy ecosystem of symbiosis, co-construction, sharing, and win-win.

Zhangjiang Artificial Intelligence Island, located in the Ubiquitous Power Internet of Things Pilot Zone, is an artificial intelligence science and technology park with the characteristics of heavy resident enterprises, fast-changing investment needs, and high data Internet of Things requirements. How to manage energy usage has become a difficult problem facing the park. "From load analysis and optimization, energy storage construction to photovoltaic system operation, since we have connected to the smart energy cloud platform, energy management is clear at a glance." Xia Zhili, project manager of Zhangjiang Artificial Intelligence Island, said that after the energy consumption data of park customers was connected to the cloud platform, the "Energy Use Behavior Analysis Report" was automatically generated after analysis. This report can display the operation of the distribution room, the energy consumption ranking of resident enterprises, and the comprehensive energy consumption of the month in real time. It is like the "energy brain" of the park, which can realize "one screen to know the world" in the park.

The 35 kV Yinjiagang substation, which is only 2 km away from the AI Island, is not an ordinary substation, but a model of "multi-station integration" that integrates infrastructure such as data center stations and base stations with traditional substations. The station is located in the original area, and after equipment miniaturization and re-layout, in addition to retaining the functions of traditional substations, it also integrates rental business functions such as data centers and base stations.

"The selection of Yinjiabang Station as the first multi-station integration pilot project was based on in-depth market research," said He Weiguo, chief engineer of Pudong Power Supply Company. One of the major advantages of Yinjiabang Station is that it is directly located in the heart of Zhangjiang Science City. "Yinjiabang Station can not only provide energy and power for Zhangjiang Science City, but also provide data services."

The emergence of "multi-station integration" lays the groundwork for seizing the regional service market. The upgraded Yinjiagang Station can provide technical support for the operation of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things internally, and can provide a variety of value-added services to industrial sectors in the region externally to meet customer needs.

The "Zhangjiang Model" is a beneficial attempt by Pudong Power Supply Company to develop "new businesses, new formats, and new models" under the new situation. In the future, power grid companies can not only deeply explore the value of energy data according to the needs of target customers, launch digital energy service products, and explore the business model of "selling services, selling data, selling management, and selling intelligence", but also give full play to the industrial attributes, network attributes, and social attributes of power grid companies through "multi-station integration" construction to achieve widespread application of power Internet of Things.
